Another stupid question. Can one install to many aircraft in FSX? I realize the more planes the longer it takes to load, but was wondering, as I have to many in there that I don't use. Find myself using mostly the HJG aircraft at they are the Best!

No you can't .... but as you say, the more the slower ..... But you might try to install 64.000 different aircraft and see if that is too many ...? Please return and tell us the result, so others might be able to stay off the limit

Another stupid question. Can one install to many aircraft in FSX? I realize the more planes the longer it takes to load, but was wondering, as I have to many in there that I don't use. Find myself using mostly the HJG aircraft at they are the Best! I find that pairing down the startup hangar (all of the airplanes in your "....SimObjects\Airplanes" folder) to just a few that you want quick access to helps speed up loading time. Also, it helps to organize things when you literally have hundreds of variations (as I do). There are many ways to do this. Mine is to keep all but a few planes I'm currently flying in "manufacturers' hangars". This is done by simply creating folders such as, "Boeing", "McDonnell Douglas", etc. in my SimObjects folder and placing my aircraft folders accordingly. When I want to fly a plane I "move" the aircraft folder to the "...SimObjects/Airplanes" folder. One other trick I employ since I have a lot of textures for each platform is to name my textures, "HOLDtexture.XXX" to keep all but one or two I'm currently interested in from showing up in the startup hangar. Utilizing these methods in combination my startup hangar will only contain planes from one airline (e.g., all Pan Am) at any given time. One other method I have started to employ (but a little late for me) is to use HJG's "Downloads" as my hangar for HJG planes. Really, is there a need to download a ton of textures when HJG already has them nicely organized? If I were going to start from scratch on HJG planes I would just download and setup the platforms with one texture folder simply named, "texture" and then download, fly and delete individual textures as my interest cycled through them.

64,000. I guess I'm not eve close with 440 different aircraft some of which contain many textures. Thanks Dan & Ken. I'll keep you posted. Have to go buy a terabite hard drive.
