Is it available (as an add on/download) for flight sim aircraft? I was looking at flying one of HJG's KC-135's into Yokota AB and my approach plate has a TACAN approach. Any words of wisdom?

I wouldn't have a clue .... to be perfectrly honest ! Our panels (even the C135 versions) are based on a basic FS civil NAV fascilitities, so, probably wouldn't/may no be able to handle TACAN in their current configuration. I suspect a reviseed NAV radio stack (along with a bit of CFG fiddiling to make it all work) might be necessary in order to implement TACAN and other comonly used military type NAV aids. This's all just assumption/guesswork on my part though ! Mark C AKL/NZ

Flightsim.com and AVSIM have a TACAN package available. Also, I believe the addon scenery available for Yokota that makes the TACAN available.
In all cases, the packages simply reassign the TACAN frequency to a civil navigation frequency and place a VORTAC at the location of the TACAN instead of the default DME. As (for our purposes) a TACAN and VOR operate identically, any TACAN approach can be properly flown with these modifications.

Ooops forgot...the tacanFS9 file is for U.S. and Puerto Rico bases. I'll check for overseas bases later when I get home from work.

Thanks for finding that "Corll One". It's been forever since I downloaded the file, so I couldn't remember. I believe there is also one out there somewhere for Europe, but I couldn't find it on Flightsim.
