also looking carefully on the picture it seems to have a wire running from the top of the fuselage to the tail.

A few (very few indeed) did have that feature .... which I suspect it was in liew of the classic VHF tail probe/antennae not being fitted to some of these aircraft when they originally produced and new owners probably wanting to fly over-water stretches.
Our models don't feature this wire though !

It's normally a VHF antennae that most of these aircraft were fitted with .... even in the case of some of the other very hrt ranging examples. What I prhaps should have said is .... "in the absence of an obvious antennae".I don't know it that wire was a part of these aircraft whilst in UA service (none of my photo reference suggest it was) or if it was added later .... by AIR VIKING, for their particular operation or just to conform to regulations in its country, in his particular case Mark
