I just replaced my old Stellan Hilmerby -40 panel with the HJG DC-9-30 panel. A foolish question perhaps, but does this flag (Runway) ever go out of view, or is it always there? Can't seem to find anything at all regarding the ADI in the DC-9 panel notes.

I know the one you mean.
Place your Mouse Curser over it and the tool tip identifies it, or that section of the ADI, as being the "LOCALIZER INDEX".
It's always been present .... and seems to remain visible too as far as I've noticed.
I'm not aware of any panel function to make it indicate other than the way it does currently .... or even disappear if it's supposed to .... and whih is why I never commented regarding it in relation to my DC9 PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES.
Everything else associated with the ADI seems fine though .... and functions normally .... according to a brief circuit around KSEA, termining with an Auto-Approach to landing, which I did to check this just prior to my replying to this post.
It also seems to remain the same for all of our DC9 panels too .... as each of our DC9 panel previews will indicate.
Considering our modification work to these panels did not focus on anything in relation to the ADI (so far as I'm awae) .... then that particular gauge has remained "precisely as it was since first being supplied to us".

Mark, Thanks for your quick reply, I kind of figured it was a "stuck" flag. The panel preview pics kind of told the story, as you mentioned. Having over 20 years in avionics tells me when the aircraft is above 200' (Radio Altitude) and established on the localizer it should not be present. But, it's something I can live with, and it's a much more accurate panel for the -30 series. Thanks again! Best Regards, Stan

Thanks for that explanation Stan ! I figured it was something to do with that part of the flight regime (which is why I rechecked it this mode earlier today), but, I wasn't actually sure how it was all "actually supposed to function" .... and which is why I omiited discussing within my online/forum PANEL NOTES.
