I can´t seem to view your DC9 image at the moment .... for whatever network reason might apply here, but, good images of the AIR VANUATU operated DC9 are actually quite hard to come by. I recently sent Tony decals for the AIR VANUATU B727 ADVC livery .... representing the aircraft leased from AUSTRALIAN AIRLINES and which is the one they used to operated their very first service to AKL during late 1988. I was the official photographer, at AKL, for this inaugural service ceremony. Later the airline operated a B737-300 .... and has more recently acquired a B737-800. AIR VANUATU actually brings back a few very pleasant Pacific memories for me ! The airline may have recieved technical assistance from ANSETT prior to this introducing their AKL service .... and in the form of a B737-200 ADVC too, but, that particular aircraft never came to AKL .... and neither did their DC9-30 In fact the only ANSETT (AUSTRALIA) operated aircraft we ever got through AKL was a B737-200 (VH-CZK) used by POLYNESIAN AIRLINES (as a replacement for 5W-PAL "Sina") and then and B767-200 ER (VH-RMD) leased to COOK ISLANDS INTERNATIONAL AIRLINE (VH-RMD) from August 1986 until May 1987 .... then B727-200 ADVC aircraft (both VH-RMN "Fuatina/Tumutevarovaro" and VH-RMK) from May 1987 until mid 1992 when they struck out on their own and acquired 2 B737-300´s. VH-RMN was interesting .... in that it supported a dual PH/KC livery until August 1988 when it reverted to full PH livery on both sides after KC was disolved Guess we´ll have to see what Tony comes up with in the future regarding these .... but .... only if he wants to .... if any these appeal to him at all.Mark C BOG/COL

There were actually 2 variations of livery supported by their AUSTRALIAN AIRLINES leased B727-200 ADVC .... VH-TBN I think it was ! When this aircraft first flew into AKL, on their inaugural flight, around November 1988, it´s livery was actually "unfinished" .... supporting just the basic blue/yellow/green/white AUSTRALIAN AIRLINES stripping and "AIR VANUATU" fuselage titles .... with the tail remaining white and "logo-less". This aircraft actually flew like that for quite a few months afterward .... and it wasn´t until well into 1989 that AIR VANUATU´s corporate logo (2 curved tusks almost in the form of a "figure 8" .... of cultural significance .... we all called it the "dog crap" was eventually applied to the aircrafts tail.
