Hi there.
I've just downloaded HJG's fantastic DC-9 and I think I've followed the installation instructions carefully.
Whenever I select the aircraft and click the fly now button, it loads up for a while and then a "Stopped Responding" message appears. I tried selecting another airplane before clicking the Fly Now button and when I'm in the sim window, I select the DC-9 and whenever I switch to the panel view, the stopped responding dialogue box reappears.
Is there something in the panel that does not make it compatible with Windows 7?

They work fine in windows 7.
When my FS acted like yours, it was usually because of this, from the panel installation thread in this forum...
Install the "FSSOUND.DLL" file inside inside the FS2004 "MODULES" folder. The FS9.CFG file must then be located and edited to read precisely as follows ....
[OLDMODULES] FSSound.dll=1
Did you install FSSound.dll in the modules folder, and add the 'old modules' lines in your FS9.cfg file?
With Windows7, the path to FS9.cfg is
Computer/Local Disk/Users/Owner/App data/Roaming/Microsoft/FS9
If you don't see 'App Data' go into folder options and make sure to enable 'see hidden files'.

I too "CONFIRM" there are no apparent issues with any of these DC9 files .... base packs, panels/gayuges, or otherwise .... within a WINDOWS 7 environment and FS9/2004. Please do as "EASTERN1004" suggests in terms of the following essential FS9.CFG edit .... [OLDMODULES] FSSound.dll=1Also .... in respect of panel installation .... please be sure you install the supplied FSSOUND.DLL file (only) inside the FS9 "MODULES" folder .... and the supplied GAUGESOUND.DLL file (only) inside the "FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9" folder. Both of these modules/files are seperatre and go to different FS destination folders .... as explained within the installation instructions which accompany the panel gauges/core files. Your issue may also be caused by files being "READ ONLY" .... in which case please familiarise yourself with the following thread .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=chat&action=display&thread=4406Within the above thread I've also, more elaborately, outlined the correct panel installation procedures .... so please revise what you've done in accordance with my stated recommendations within the above thread. Provided that everything is installed correctly .... then there's no logical reason why any problems/issues, at all, should occur. Mark C AKL/NZ

I finally got it to work. Thanks for your help. The Gaugesound.dll turned out to be the culprit. An added bonus was that my Project Fokker F100 starts up properly too.

A few years ago, a certain phrase was found in many forums. RTFM - Read The 'Friendly' Manual ;D This is NOT a criticism, I was a major culprit in that foo-pah, I'd just jump in and think, I'll figure this out "on the fly" LOL, wasted a lot of virtual aluminum doin that

A few folk have fallen into that trap Glad you've been able to identify, and obviously rectify, what you dfid wrong .... "OUR PLEASURE" .... and I mean that on behalf of both offical and unaofficial HJG representation I feel it's often just that urge of excitement/eagerness .... wanting to get stuck into any new product .... which overtakes the concentration of some folk and causes them to misunderstand certain phases of installation procedures. As "EASTERN1004" states/implies .... "we've all done it at some stage" ;D The DC9 installation procedure is "SIMPLE" .... but .... does need to be followed precisely. 5 times out of 10 times folk will run into problems if they try "winging it" in terms of the recomended installation priocedures. "MIGGI747" .... if you're new to our DC9's and the HILMERBY/CARTY/HJG DC9 panels generally .... then I strongly recommend you take time read my "DC9 PANELS INSTALATION & HANDLING NOTES" posting .... which is our forum based/online manual for these aircraft located at the top of the "DOUGLAS AIRCRAFT SUPPORT" foru m page. These notes go far beyond explaining instalation procedures .... to also explain how everything works and should be configured .... in order for folk to be able enjoy these panels and aircraft to "THE ABSOLUTE MAX". Have fun ! Mark C AKL/NZ

When I still had my XP rig, the DC-9 worked perfectly right from the start. No glitches. I transferred most of the airplanes to my Win7 rig and I think that somehow, Gaugesound.dll got misplaced when I was making the transfer. I have enjoyed HJG's airplanes starting from when I was still using my XP rig. And since I've only asked help here for blurry textures and smoke issues, I assume that I have been installing the aircraft/panels/sounds properly. The transfer was merely copying and pasting the files I had so I would no longer go through the installation process and get on with flying. The Gaugesound.dll mix up is an honest mistake and something I've overlooked during the file transfer. At least I get to fly HJG's fabulous aircraft now. Oh and about the DC-9's Handling Notes? I've put it into the Kneeboard so that I wouldn't have to keep switching windows as I get the airplane up and running. ;D
