Anything can happen during any approach .... of course .... BUT .... let's just say, that given their past record, KE is "NOT" a carrier I'd willingly use by choise ;D Mark C AKL/NZ

Dave,
Enjoyed the photos!
Mark,
I've seen that footage. I've also noted that some in the aviation community have stated that the Korean Air pilots may not be the best trained out there. I, too, would probably look elsewhere for my travel to Asia!

There's some Very Good/"CHEAP" speacials on sale at he moment .... between Auckland and Seoul .... and on to Londonas well as other cities too .... BUT .... they all utilize KE services I think I'll "GIVE IT A MISS" though ! Probably not as "NIFTY" (or as potentially disasterous) as the way they obviously "marked" that RWY at Narita (which is probably an altogether new way to do it ;D) .... using that A380. Apparently that particular RWY was closed for around 30 minutes after the incident .... and the return flight to Seoul then delayed for almost 2 hours. The aircraft did sustain damage .... but ...."according to both AIRBUS and KE" .... it was apparently "quite minor" Still .... it's no way to treat ones brand new and expensive toys ! Mark C AKL/NZ

Mark C AKL/NZ Hi Mark that,s True..... could it have possibly been wind shear or severe cross winds....Just a thought. I think I like this old livery better than the new pastel blue.. Most of us have probably seen a number of youtube videos of crosswind landings at the old Hong Kong Kai Tek airport.
There were quite a few hair raising landings done by numerous different airlines.

Try "WELLINGTON NEW ZEALAND" on a blustery day Herman.
There's a number of YOUTUBE videos showing "interesting" approaches/landings there .... at what's considred being the most difficult airport in New Zealand when the wether turns to crap .... and when it does turn to crap BOY OH BOY does it get "ROUGH".

I'll keep it short & sweet - which airline do you think has the worst safety record with widebody aircraft? 'Nuff said.

And not just wide-bodied aircraft either .... because that (what Chris's referring to) has been going on now for "A VERY LONG TIME" indeed.
