Hi Mark: Your comments deserve to be read more than once. But besides the feeling of younger people as we are that a modern airplane is a dream-ship which does all by itself its still an airplane and airplanes in false hands or mistreated can bite. The trim in motion sound is an important point of safety, cause runaway trim downed more than one plane. Therefore up to now painting trim-wheels with white stripes is also a good idea. And the respect of some of my friends who are really airline captains for the trim and its use is well deserved. Walter I definietly don't feel the 707 as something that is a dreamship! I have found, (going off topic here) that some of the "Airbus" models around actually need a little persuasion to do what you want. I had an endless list of issues with the Wilco Airbus (such as it circling a waypoint I never asked it to, etc), and I would never call that thing a dream-ship! Getting back to the subject of trim, I have (in the past) found the trim sounds annoying, but, they are necessary. The 737 Classic has a "sneezing" sound! This 707 has a rattling sound. It just gets very annoying in situations where the A/C has issues maintaing specific ROC/ROD... But, I should just learn to live with it

"ABSOLUTELY" .... and we do try to build, into our panels, all of the authenticity (like sounds etc) that we're able to .... "subject to certain FS limitations as well as those of our own skills and/or resourcing". In respect of flightdfeck sounds (like Trim warning etc) .... most pilots will probably say .... one's just got to put up with those sorts of things sometimes and it's better to have a system alerting one to the fact that somethings happening rather than not have it.
Sorry to sound like a "A STUCK RECORD/DAMAGED CD" here .... but ....
You simply shouldn't be having that problem .... "AT ALL" .... re establishing specific ROC/ROD and using that thumb wheel during AP controlled flight.
I simply can't replicate any such issue. I've always found the B707 AP system to be extremly reliable .... and very stable .... in respect of all of its available modes.
Your particular issue has got to/must be caused by something "specific" which you've got installed or is going on on your own system.
"IF" ... there was any general problem in this respect then I'd expect to see a forum full of complaints !!!!!
I'm at a loss as to what to "SUGGEST" .... other than the folliowing ....
Do you have FSUIPC installed .... even in unregistered form and with just "MINIMUM DEFAULTS" selected ?
If you haven't got it .... then I do recommend it !!!!
I'm about to fly 3 long-haul realworld sectors in several hours time (rushing now) .... SO .... won't be able monitor his thread for a few days.

[ I definietly don't feel the 707 as something that is a dreamship! I have found, (going off topic here) that some of the "Airbus" models around actually need a little persuasion to do what you want. I had an endless list of issues with the Wilco Airbus (such as it circling a way-point I never asked it to, etc), and I would never call that thing a dream-ship! Getting back to the subject of trim, I have (in the past) found the trim sounds annoying, but, they are necessary. The 737 Classic has a "sneezing" sound! This 707 has a rattling sound. It just gets very annoying in situations where the A/C has issues maintaining specific RIC/ROD... But, I should just learn to live with it I didn't say the 707 was a dreamship. And I was not referring to the shortcoming of some FS addons of modern airliners, what I was talking about is the philosophy of flightsimming: In a restricted way it should come close to the real thing. The rattling sounds in the early Boeing-Jets came from the vibration device used to save the primary flight instruments from freezing. The howling noise in PT-Tu planes is the noise of the real planes transformers and the tack-tack in a Boeing is the trim in motion, something you learn to miss if you start with the PT Tu 154M, which moves its trim in silence. But also real dream-ships have their secrets even for very well trained and experienced crews. Like this one: They took of from a South American capital bound to MMMX in a B 757. With plenty of fuel and after an uneventful flight they had to fly around a monstrous thunderstorm above the next way-point Panama City. As they did that with weather radar and heading input into the AP the FMC was left to its own. The rest of flight was done by VOR-to VOR. But abeam Cancun the FMC came in with the announcement, they will run out of fuel 15 min. before reaching MMMX. Frenzy accounting started, there is still enough fuel to even reach the US. Finally the Captain decided to check the route of the FMC: IT STILL WANTED TO GO BACK TO PANAMA, OVERFLY THE LEFT OUT WAY-POINT AND THEN GO TO MMMX. Solution was easy: Way-point Panama City deleted, fuel o.k. Mark Nice flight! Walter
