Hello at HJG... Thanks for the excellent AC and the frequent updates, they're really appreciated. I was reading the B727 Manual and came across th section regarding the "Ticking Sound" in the CP. I'm aware that this adds to the realism, but there is mention of removing the sound..by reducing the sound on file named:
rp727_2_altimeter.wav Thing is..looked for the file in the Core Files and in my main Sound Files and can't find it. Any pointers please as to where the thing might be? Would be greatly appreciated. Best Wishes ZA

What you´re hearing there is "quite normal" .... and intentional too. It´s part of the on board system which powers all of the aircrafts gauges/avionics .... and is the most dominant sound on any flightdeck when an aircraft (a B727 in this case) is being powered by its own on board generator (APU) or connected to a ground generator (GPU) whilst the engines are shutdown. It also remains audible .... but to a far lesser extent (if you´re using the HJG hosted AEROMUSICA B727 soundpacks) .... when the engines are running (which then become the aircraft's generators/power source) too, both on the ground and in flight, as both engine sound and in flight environmental factors tend to drown it out (not that it´s loud unless you´re FS audio settings are unrealitically high) quite substantially. There´s no discussion anywhere within our manual (B727 PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES) regarding the removal of that particular supporting panel WAV .... and doing so will only succeed in one denying oneself a large slice of reality (that sound was recorded directly from "a B727") anyway .... since airliner flightdecks aren´t pristinely quiet places when an aircraft is connected to or running off it´s own generator. All of those avionics and gyro system to make a noise .... and which is why what you hear in our panels is represented. Personally (and this´s simply my own personal oppinion only) .... I wouldn´t encourage removing that particular WAV sound at all. Whether or not the panel remains stable "after" that WAV is removed from the Core Files (some panels, though not necessarily ours, do become unstable when bits, even sounds, are removed) .... I know not .... BUT .... "that´s your own choice of course". ANYWAY .... the particular WAV sample you´re referring to is as follows .... rp727_2_400hzMark C BOG/CO

Hello Mark.... Thanks for the quick response and very clear explanation...Sorry for misunderstanding the content of the Manual...well that particual part anyway. I'll re-visit my 'Sound Settings' and make modifications. I'll go with your advice and leave well alone...sounds too dangerous to me to touch anything anyway Best Wishes ZA
