I'm not new to HJG, and in fact have many of these wonderful A/C's in my Hanger. I recently installed the 30 series, it shows up and no problems. FSX platform, with vista os. Start up is default MS A/C Baron. I select DC-8 and at push back I start the engines with quick start Control E. Sometimes only one engine starts, then yesterday they all started, but only # 2 engine throttle moved when I powered up to taxi. So I shut down with key stroke X and then it would not restart. Any suggestions? Everything else works although I haven't tried a different series DC-8 yet. Falcon

It will not start with CTRL-E in FSX ... use the written start-procedures, well discribed by Mark in this part of the forum .... this works .... Remember the HJG is not a "simple" panel, and thus it is no willing to give in for a quick CTRL-E ... No related to your OS (Vista) or your FS-version .. (I think) ... more so that it is a specialised Panel..... with special coding for the start-up procedures that isn't covered by the inbuilt CTRL-E macro...

And .... the reason for those engine startup procedures, which I've outlined within my supporting service notes/tutorials for these aircraft, is because all of the DC8's (like our B707's/B720's, C135's, CV880's, and CV990's too) require a pneumatic air start procedure in order to spin each engine up to a certain speed/rotation before they can be successfully lit. These procedures have been very well (and authentically too) replicated into each of the supporting panels for these aircraft types by both George CARTY and Marco BALZAROTTI .... and work superbly well .... so long as one's very precise in regard to the implimenting the rcommended procedures (which aren't difficult) to start with. One may be hard-pressed to start engines on these aircraft/panels if the procedures are circumvented or otherwise dispensed with ;D Enjoy the DC8's .... and additionally this little piece of reality within the virtuality of FS Mark C AKL/NZ

Ok, I am aware that key strokes are not suppose to start these, however it does work for me on the Convair series. I discovered a short cut that seems to work 100 % of the time in FSX. But I like the realistic start procedures now that I have read them and actually used them. Thanks you two. Falcon/Denny

Although our CV880 and CV990 panels use precisely the same pneumatic air engine startup procedures .... I think you'll find these panels are, in comparison with our DC8 and B707/720 panels, somewhat less complex, so, there may, still, be some form of "overide" available which does promotes engine startups using basic FS keyboard commands. I'm only speculatinjg in regard to this though As you appear to have discovered now though .... it "IS" much more fun using the proper/precribed method of engine startup procedure Mark C AKL/NZ
