I've looked in where all the .gau's, bmp's and where a couple of .cab files are: ( the main panel.md80_golding_red folder, and I can't find it. (I looked in the other folders in the aforementioned uncompressed .zip file.)
I did find the Aircraft.cfg in the Basepack I downloaded, (MD-82) but, there was no "panel=" listed to modify. That folder, can be found in the "Aircraft" section under FS9, then you'll find the downloaded a/c.
Any help would be appreciated.

I admit I'm rushing this morning .... BUT EVEN SO .... I'm not, really, following the title line of your query.
What do you mean GOLDING RED "AIRCRAFT.CFG" file ?
There's no such thing !
Do you mean "PANEL.CFG" file for the "GOLDING RED MD80 PANEL ?
If so .... then it is there.
If it's not there then that might suggest what you've got has downloaded incompletely through some form of corruption (it can happen) .... or .... maybe you've just lost it during the unzipping process.

Translation: I unzipped the Golding_Red Panel and was following the installation instructions, when the next step says to:
Open the AIRCRAFT.CFG folder and edit the "PANEL=" data line to read precisely as follows
I'll stop at this point to say:
a) I've never seen an "aircraft.cfg folder" anywhere that I could find, and
b) the aircraft.cfg file that I did find -- over in the FS9>Aircraft>HJG McDonnell Douglas MD-82_V1 did not have a "PANEL=" data line in it to edit. I did a search (F3), and I looked very carefully for it.
Sooo, Now what?
I'm guilty of having posed my first post rather quickly, so I totally understand if you didn't understand my "shorthand."
Sorry about that. I hope this is a clearer explanation.
Thanks in Advance,

A typical and complete aircraft installation procedure in FS will normally comprise of each of the following essential steps ....
1. Install the aircraft base pack
2. Install the aircraft textures.
3. Install the panel
4. Install the sound pack
Step #1 and #2 are the priorities which must be undertaken in that specific order .... whereas step #3 and #4 may be attended to in any specific order of preference after the first 2 steps have been completed .... OK.
NOW THEN .... assuming one has successfully completed steps #1 and #2 .... and one is now moving on to step # 3 which, for the benefit of this discussionm, is going to be installation of the panel ....
The panel installation instructions reference to AIRCRAFT.CFG file .... and in particular to the PANEL= data line .... refers to the PANEL= data line appearing within the FLTSIM.XX/ADD TO AIRCRAFT data which accompanies each individual texture file. It's "THIS DATA" that must be pasted to the AIRCRAFT.CFG FILE as the textures are being installed .... and .... it's the PANEL= data line within this particular data that the panel installation instructions are telling one to edit in accordance with the panel folder name .... meaning .... after successful editing this particular AIRCRAFT.CFG file data line will/should then appear as follows ....
Panel=md80_golding_red
.... OR .... to look at this as a completed AIRCRAFT.CFG/ADD TO AIRCRAFT data edit .... that PANEL= data line will/should, after successful editing, then appear as per this particular example from my own MD83 installation in FS2004 ....

Thanks for listing the order in which the installation has to be done in.
Not only was that news to me, but also the reason I couldn't find the "Panel=" data line you/HJG talked about in the installation procedure.
Is that Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for all of HJG's aircraft?
Thanks.

Few people, if any, would install a base pack, then a panel, and then fly a texturesless aircraft in FS .... unless they're developers or testors analysing various data. A sensible, if not logical, FS installation would/should always start with the aircraft base pack .... "FIRST" .... and then at leat 1 aircraft texture .... "SECOND". Had this been done, in this particular instance, then the PANEL= data line and its reference to the AIRCRAFT.CFG file couldn't/shouldn't have been misunderstood It's not only a SOP "HERE"/with all HJG files .... but .... it's also "common practice" right throughought the FS world where the manual installation of files is required. And just to get in first ;D .... "NO" .... we won't be providing auto-installers Mark C AKL/NZ

Well I did my "panel=" line edits/mods, and the textures show up. I copied over the panel.golding_red folder over to where the texture files are installed for the Md-82 After all that...no panel shows up Am I forgetting something? Thanks in advance, Thrills and Chills

You've "thingyed something up" .... and I suggest it's in regard to the PANEL= data line of your ADD TO AIRCRAFT.CFG/FLTSIM.XX data You indicated, the other day, that you'd, apparently, successfully installed the GOLDING WHITE version MD80 panel. SO .... why are you then experiencing problems with this particular panel ? Installtion procedures for the GOLDING RED panel version are precisely the same as those for the WHITE panel version .... save for the file name. I've just rechecked everything using my own copy of the currently uploaded HJG file .... and it displays fine .... even with the original ASI in my case. ANYWAY .... just to be thorough I suggest you revise each of the following installation steps .... - The "PANEL.MD80_GOLDING_RED" file must be installed inside your "HJG McDONNELL DOUGLAS MD82" folder .... to accompany the 2 MODEL, the default PANEL, the default SOUND, all TEXTURE, as well as the AIRCRAFT.CFG and AIR file data. Where have you put it .... the "PANEL.MD80_GOLDING_RED" I'm talking about ? Where have you put each of the other required panel components which must be installed in different FS destination folders ? FYI .... - The contents of the "FS2004" container (i.e. the TCASV7 and TCASV7.DLL files) must be installed inside the "FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9" folder. - The contents of the "PANEL MODULES" container (i.e. the FSSOUND.DLL and TRAFFICINFO.DLL files) must be installed inside the "MODULES" folder of FS2004 .... and in addition to this .... you must locate your FS9.CFG file and copy & paste and then "save" the following edit .... [OLDMODULES] FSSound.dll=1- The contents of the "PANEL SOUNDS" container (i.e. all 20 individual WAV files) must be installed inside the "SOUND" folder of FS2004 .... i.e. the Sound folder inside the main FS2004 diectory system and not the Sound folder inside your HJG McDONNELL DOUGLAS MD82 Aircraft Base Pack folder. If you've done all of that (above) "correctly" .... and strictly in accordance with the preceribed INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION procedures too .... then the panel will display. In any case .... I want you to "copy & paste" (below) the ADD TO AIRCRAFT/FLTSIM.XX section (just as I presented to you last night) for your MD82 AIRCRAFT.CFG .... just so I can see precisely what you've done in regard to that PANEL= data line Mark C AKL/NZ

The Panel Modules those two files in there, I tried to add to the FS9 "Modules" folder, but I received a warning about there already was a file in that folder with the same name, so I clicked on the "Skip" button.
The same thing happened when I tried to add the TCASV7 and the TCASV7.dll inside the Flight Simulator 9 folder.
The [OLDMODULDES] text I added for the panel.golding_white to the fs9.cfg was already there from the last go around. [OLDMODULDES] wasn't there, (when installing "white" so I just added the edit you mentioned above a few days ago. So that's in there.
From the FS9.CFG: (copy/paste operation)
[OLDMODULES] FSSound.dll=1
So, I guess you could say, technically, they weren't added, because they were already there.

You need a folder called Panel.xxxxx
As you have it now you don't have a panel, and thus your aircraft is actually being used as an AI-aircraft .... I would highly suggest that if you already have one aircraft working and installed, you got yourself a bit of flying time instead of trying to install even more and more aircraft.... and after a while when you get yourself a bit more aquainted with how things are installed, you could come back and try again .... the HJG-aircrafts are not easily managed by newcomers after all .... just an advice .... ;-)

That's because you've already completed that process on the basis of your, apparent, successful installation of the GOLDING WHITE Panel version.
Same applies as stated above .... if you've successfully done it previously then you don't need to repeat the process again. The WHITE and RED version panels are essentially "the same" .... save for their different gauges suites as is supplied inside their respective panel folders
HOWEVER .... looking at your images much earlier on this morning .... it's apparent that you "HAVE NOT" followed the installation instructions.
Here's your problem ....
You've currently got a folder named "MD80_PANEL_GOLDING_RED" representing your Panel.
That particular folder, which comes from the extracted Panel ZIP file, is just the container for the Panel file .... it's not the actual Panel file itself.
The actual Panel file is inside this container/folder.
Open this particular folder .... and you will/should find the actual Panel file inside it .... named as follows ....
"PANEL.MD80_GOLDING_RED"
Simply put this particular file inside your MD82 Aircraft base Pack .... to accompany the 2 Model files, the Sound file, the Texture files, and the AIRCRAFT.CFG and AIR data files .... and that will/should resiolve your problem.
You can then delete the empty "MD80_PANEL_GOLDING_RED" container/folder ....
So far as I can determine .... "at a glance" .... all of you other CFG editing is correct though.

Forgive me for saying so .... BUT .... why are you posting more data ?
I've already stated what your particular problem is .... and .... I've also cited the necessary action required by you in oder to resolve it.

I've often thought why am spending this time flying; getting the basics down (of the HJG A/C.) Without question, it's the right approach. In other words, Get the basics down first, then establish a "rotation", so to speak.
Agreed.
Thanks for the advice.
