Just tried to install the RC-135 CFM56 but don't see any aircraft_fsx.cfg in the zipped file. And they're not to be found in the later KC-135, EC-135, and other RC-135 base files either. Are those only for FS2004 at this time? The KC-135A includes an aircraft_fsx.cfg, but the specs are very different for the later models.

This one was answered before, as I discovered after some more searching: So far as I'm aware .... there "IS NOT and "SHOULD NOT" be an FSX specific AIRCRAFT.CFG. The CFG file provided has dual FS2004 and FSX compatibility .... SO .... ignore any installation instruction references to FSX specific AIRCRAFT.CFG files and proceed with what you've got. Any reference, within those aircraft base pack installation instructions, to FSX specific CFG files is an oversight which should have been removed from those instruction prior to uploading, but, obviously wasn't ;D Mark C AKL/NZ

Although you're now aware .... others may not be .... SO .... FYI ....
The reason for there not being an FSX specific CFG file within these base packs (along with those for the, B707-700, DC8-70's, and L1011's also) is because these aircraft types are powered by more modern type turbofan engines .... which are "virtually" smokeless .... unlike the earlier turbojet and fanjet type engines which aren't/weren't so clean burning/running.
The only "major" differenc" between our current FS2004 and FSX specific CFG files is in regard to their "SMOKE EFFECTS" data .... which requires different co-ordination in the case FSX .... hence the requiresment of an FSX specific CFG file.
