FSX user. Installed some free addon scenery files of aerodromes and on two of them, when I place an aircraft on the tarmac in a parking slot I picked, the Screen shows Crash screen unless I uncheck the realism crash detection in the FSX menue. Is there some way around this? Thanks in advance. Keep the blue side up! Falcon

One other thing regarding the crash, when I start at a different airport and fly to that airport as long as I fly over it it is ok. When I try to land I get about 100ft on final and CRASH! Just thought I'd add this.

Errr, has'nt anyone out there had this experience? Probably just the scenery files and nothing one can do, but I would have thought I'd have some kind of response by now. Regards, Falcon

Usually is a bad scenary installation. Remember you are installing an airport over a mesh terrain. It is controlled by the orden of installation in the scenaries window. If the mesh terrain says that there was here a hill but the airpoirt says that the hill was levelled, and the scenaries are installed in the wrong order, you will crash with the phantom of the hill. (that's the idea, but please somebody put this more tecnical) Check the installation instructions, maybe you left someting out,

Thanks Alejandro, there wasn't much to install and the instructions were pretty straightforward. What you say makes perfect sense to me. I will delete those and try it again, but I have a feeling that it will remain as is. One of the airport scenery is for Meigs field in Chicago that has been demolished for quite some time, so I can see where that may be a problem with installing it over the defualt mesh terrain. Thanks for the info. Falcon

I have never been much contempt with the crash-thingy in FS .... so I've un-checked the option, as I find it hardly realistic.... I remember once I made an hour flight into Kai Tak...landed at night, and at the end of the runway, I apparently mis-calculated the turn radius so I hit the rwy-sign, rolling at approx. 2-4 knts .... unfortunately FS decided that the accident was lethal and killed everyone aboard !!! .. I was flying for a VA, and you can imagine the repuation falling !!! .... The VA had of course as one of the rules NOT to fly with crash detection on, but..... manuals ... who reads them... Never used it since..... EVER ! :-D

Cool Dan! From real life experiences, I have always figured that it wasn't realistic. I had apparently checked it one time and forgot. But it happened at an aerodrome yesterday that I've been in and out of many times, and it didn't like where I wanted to park, so it crashed before I got started. So uncheck, save and continue on. Thank you both for your responses. Falcon
