Hi!
I've downloaded the DC8-63, and I am trying to open more than one exit. The standard FSX command "SHIFT+E" does open the forward pax door. But in the aircraft.cfg file there are two exits listed, thus: [exits] number_of_exits=2 exit_rate.0=0.4 exit_rate.1=0.5 Which command controls the second exit, and where is it?

"SHIFT E" keyboard commands open the Main EXit only .... that's DOOR 1L, but, not any of the others .... although it may open the rear port side PAX exit on some of the smaller DC8 SERIES, but, on the 63's, at least, it opens the forward portside PAX exit only. This may actually differ among some of the smaller DC8 SERIES models, but, is otherwise intentional .... in any case, and in the real world, I've never seen the rear PAX exit used on the much larger SUPER DC8-61/63/71/73 SERIES aircraft (I'm not sugesting it wasn't or couldn't be .... only that I, personaklly, have never seen it used), but, which is something that might differ according to airports and ground fascilities etc. In the days before air-bridges became standard, at most major airports, I suppoe it wasn't a great idea to have PAX walking out onto aprons further than safety might dictate .... is my guess The 2nd CFG related "DOOR" reference ..... to which you refer .... generally relates to the port side forward fuselage maindeck freight/cargo door on DC8CF/F SERIES aircraft .... and which are animated on these DC8 versions only (except DC8-20F, 30F, and 40F) using "SHIFT E 2" keyboard commands. These particular keyboard strokes have, in the past, been known to be "a little temperamental", but, do work well "if timed" properly with slight micro-pauses between each keystroke. Mark C AKL/NZ

If that is what you see in the aircraft.cfg, I'm pretty convinced that you are NOT using the FSX-version of the aircraft.cfg ;-)

What "ESKIL" observes and comments regarding is actually "quite correct".
The current "EXIT" data .... in both FS2004 and FSX version CFG files reads identically as follows ....
DEFAULT FS2004 VERSION
[exits] number_of_exits=2 exit_rate.0=0.4 exit_rate.1=0.5
FSX VERSION
[exits] number_of_exits=2 exit_rate.0=0.4 exit_rate.1=0.5
These CFG's were last worked on during 2006 (not by me incidentally .... since only those base packs currently in my own possession, pending release, have been recompiled by me, but, none of the current/publicly downloadable data) when STATION LOAD adjustments were made in order to resolve a Weight & Balance related CTD issue which, at that time, was noted to affect all DC8-60/70 Base Packs.
2 exits are stated within both CFG file versions .... but .... only the forward portside DOOR 1L animation seems to work (in FS2004) on the standard PAX configured DC8-63's .... with the 2nd reference "possibly" being intended to work port side forward fuselage maindeck cargo door animations only for the CF/F designated aircraft.
As I hinted by me earlier ....
The rear exit on these models (at least) "may" not ever have been animated (over the past 10 years I certainly don't recall it functioning), unlike that of their smaller DC8 model counterparts .... OR .... it's possible that the CFG data currently applied is incorrect .... as "might" then have been the case since well before 2006 also.

Hmm... then the fsx version needs to be updated.... I'll look into that.
