I recently installed the panel FSX Boeing 717 panel with landing panel for non VC a/c. Includes ground handling, push back, radars, posky doors utility and airport chart using freeware gauges and default FSX gauges into the HJG B717-200. Now when I fire up FSX always with default A/C and then switch to the 717, it shows up in the menu. But when I hit start flight, it sits there a while, and then it comes up with Fatal Error and that FSX is closing. Now this Panel is suppose to be for FSX. I'm not running DX10, or any special stuff. Any suggestions as to why this happens. I know its not the A/C as when I drop a different panel in, it works just fine. Falcon

Where did you get the panel from...?
There's an ocean of reasons why the FS would crash.... but as you indicate it is only with this particular panel ...?
Perhaps you should consult the author of the panel instead....

Dan, Looking at the install instructions there are no names. I downloaded it from flightsim I believe. Could have had it around for some time. There is something wrong with the file as I have no other problems in that area. Thanks anyway. I should have looked at who built this panel, and contacted them, but since there was no name................well I tried! On to the next. Thanks again. Falcon

Denny .... since it's, apparently, not a panel supplied from "HERE" then prossibly not a lot that HJG can do do to assist .... since the reason for your experience could, and probably is, related to that other panels gauge/module set. HJG does offer its own B717-200 panel .... which is also the same panel assignment recommended for use with HJG MD87/88/90-30 simulations also .... BUT .... unfortunately .... it's not FSX compatible .... meaning it's not actually been tested in FSX, but, Im', pretty sure it's not compatible However .... AND JUST TO SATISFY MY OWN PERSONAL CURIOSITY .... would you kindly go as far as to "name" the actual non-HJG B717-200 panel that you're, apparently, experiencing difficulties with ?I do have a particular personal reason for asking this Mark C AKL/NZ

Mark, The panel was posted on simviation by a G.Bruce, but he did not put his name or any other names in the install instructions. In looking further it must be an old Posky panel as the Posky name is all over the Panel bitmaps, and it includes PKY_util file. I surmise he must have tried to change the panel to work with FSX. Name of file is 300717_panel7.zip I think I got it from simviation, but could have been from flightsim or AVSim. Couple of years ago, a Ken wigg was working on a b-717 panel I believe, but I have not been able to find it. He does have a MD-80/87 panel out there that is part conversion from what HJG offers for FS9 MD series. Anyway if I could figure a way, I would send you the entire file. Denny/aka Falcon.

Don't worry about sending me the file Denny There's not much I can do withy it .... since I'm not an FSX user What a lot of these "MONKEYS" do is "pinch bits'n'pieces out of various other panels here'n'there" .... and then combine/reassemble them into other complete new files (thinking it'll work with anything), but, "without any knowledge/regard" to panel/gauge/FDE relationships which "can" apply in respect of some components .... and what, often, then results is a panel that will "CRASH" when loaded with a certain/particular model/FDE combination .... and which may be the particular snag you've just run into Unfortunately .... there's not a lot of, what I regard as being, "decent panel options" available for FS and in respect of "quality B717-200 panels". IMHO .... Steve SOUTHEY's B717-200 panel (the same file recommendation HJG currently hosts for its MD87/88/90-30, and B717-200 simulations) is the "VERY BEST" I've seen .... so far (although there are 1 or 2 cosmetic details that I'd like to be able to change with it in the future) .... and as of the time HJG launched its MDX project .... and which is why I selected it, but, unfortunately, it's not FSX compatible .... so far as I'm aware. Rather that searching for an FSX compatible B717-200 specific panel .... given the apparent lack of existent "quality" options for FS. You might, alternatively, like to consider focussing your searches on FSX compatible "LATE MODEL MD80/90 panel (glass configuration like that of the SOUTHEY panel version)" .... since the MD87/88/90-30 and B717-200 "GLASS" flightdecks (realworld I mean) are, apparently, very similar .... but .... in doing so (using a non-HJG configured/tested/supplied panel) there's always potential for "incompatibilities" to, once again, raise their ugly head.
