I don't know where Midway went, but I do know it wasn't Chicago
Not sure if I'm at cross-purposes with you here .... BUT .... I assume you mean "the airline"
It/MIDWAY AIRLINES was in fact well entrenched at Chicago ....
MIDWAY AIRLINES was the first US post deregulation startup carrier .... formed on October 13th 1976, but, which didn't commence operations until October 31st 1979 .... some 6 weeks after deregulation bill came into effect/law. The airline flew low cost/"no frills" services from Chicago/Midway to Cleveland, Detroit, and Kansas City .... with their "KISS O'HARE GOODBYE" advertising campaign. By 1989 it had expanded its route network to include Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Des Moines, Detroit, Fort Myers, Hartford, Jacksonville, Lafayette, Memphis, Minneapolis/St.Paul, Moline, Montreal, Nassau,, Newark, New Orleans, New York/La Guardia, Omaha, Pheonix, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Providence, Rockford, Sarasota, St.Louis, St.Petersburg, Tampa, Toronto, and Washington/National .... although any number of these destinations might have only been served by either of the airlines following principal divisions/subsidiaries ....
MIDWAY METROLINK was an experimental "frills" service aimed primarily at the business commuter and frequent flyer market using aircraft with reduced capacity.
MIDWAY EXPRESS evolved from the airlines aquisition of some of AIR FLORIDA .... among which included that airlines Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando Tampa, and West Palm Beach services .... as well as services to both St.Thomas/US Virgin Islands, and St.Croix in the Caribbean.
MIDWAY CONNECTION was the airlines commuter division which evolved from its take-over of the Ohio based FISHER BROTHERS AVIATION. This new feeder was a wholly owned subsidiary of MIDWAY AIRLINES which was moved to Springfield/Illinois and from where it flew services to Bloomington, Champaign, and Peonia, .... and to Indiana (Fort Myers, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, New Orleans, South Bend) .... and to the Midwest (Greenbay, Milwaukee, Madison, Oshkosh, Wisconsin) .... and also to Michigan (Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Muskegoen, Traverse City).
By the time MIDWAY AIRLINES had achieved national carrier status and was flying coast-to-coast (USA) it was also then operating services from Chicago to Los Angeles and Orange County .... as well as Philadelphia to Las Vegas services too.
Quite a bit of information there (above) .... really intended for those whom might wish to re-enact such routings using the HJG model/texture variations currently available
