"IF" you're intending to use HJG supplied panels ....
Then you'll have to use VOR to VOR navigation .... via NAV 1 and NAV 2 radio frequencies along the panel located HSI/CDI instrument/s .... and in order to do that, successfully, you're also going to need JEPPERSEN/paper NAV charts depicting published air route/tracks (and all of the VOR frequencies) for the region within which you're intending to fly.
If you don't have any JEPPERSEN NAV charts then you can/should be able to search/locate these on the web .... and then download/print them accordingly.
What folk "must remember" .... in regard to the panels which HJG have, themselves, produced (B707/720/C135 SERIES .... which also includes that for B367-80 too, and then the CV880, CV990/A, and the DC8) at least .... is these particular panels are, mostly, modelled on/representative of the late 1950's and 1960's era .... before GPS (as we know it today) was ever fitted into any civil aircraft.
HJG's intention .... with these/its own aircraft panels .... has, traditionally, always been to try and remain as true/authentic (as possible) to this period during which these particular aircraft aircraft reigned supreme along airways of the world.
In other words .... "NO GPS" .... for "HISTORICAL" reasons.
Failing that .... you're only other option is (probably) to use the default MSFS panel assignments supplied within HJG aircraft base packs .... and then use the FLIGHT PLANNER fascility (under "FLIGHTS" in FS2004 .... I don't what it is in FSX) provided withn MSFS in order to compile the route you want to fly. Doing that will, at least (if not sadly), give you a GPS equipped panel .... and allow you to, basically, navigate between 2 points on the basis of GPS "guidance/assistance".

"YES" .... he can consider doing that also, but, if he does decide to install it .... "in any HJG supplied panel" .... then he just needs to understand that HJG don't assist/provide support for it Mark C AKL/NZ
