I just downloaded your base DC-8-61 and texture, the A/C shows up in the aircraft area, but has no texture. The texture downloaded is the 1974 united. How do you get the texture to show up with the base a/c. I installed the texture as per the readme file. I choose to show you the CGF file. Thanks

I just tried this and it worked fine for me, have you installed the new texture properly? I wonder if you have left it in its packaged folder..inside that folder will be a folder to go into the base pack folder and it will start with texture.united(etc) That may be your problem?

Thanks Tony for your response. I don't know how to do two or more download images I had put the texture folder as I have done this several times with other textures different companies. I had put texture.united_airlines_1974_61_n8089u as a whole folder within the base model, and added the previous posting into aircraft CFG per instructions. I am using FS9. I hate when things like this happens, I once had this on my computer, but when I had major computer issues I lost it now I am trying to get this back working. I love these old classics liners as this is when I grew up thru the 60's. Thanks again

Is the UAL the only texture you have? Otherwise remember to number the fltsim sections in correct order; 0, 1, 2, 3 .... etc. if you have two [fltsim.0] only the first will show and all succeding sections will be ignored from the second one and onwards....

Simpilot,
see if it is numerical zero, NOT letter "0". I once made goofy mistake using letter "o" instead of numerical zero.

also, what panel are you using??? did you pick aircraft cfg that is for FS9, not for FSX?
Also delete the words: // Change "xx" to next number in sequence starting from 0
Did you use administrator's rights when unzipping files and installing files?

REMEMBER .... he sais, the aircraft subject (DC8-61 in this particular case) "IS" displaying in FS, but without it's assigned "1974 UNITED AIR LINES" texture. I understand this to mean that the model is appearing, but, is apparently "COMPLETELY NAKED" "SIMPILOT" My own, personal, CFG/ADD TO AIRCRAFT/FLTSIM.XX editing/preferences are slightly different from those of HJG stock texture files. Delete the FLTSIM.XX data you've been trying to apply so far .... and try out my own version (below) .... to see if it makes any difference .... [fltsim.0] title=HJG DC-8-61 United Air Lines 1974 sim=DC-8-61_2K4 model= panel= sound= texture=united_airlines_1974_61_n8089u kb_checklists= kb_reference= visual_damage=1 description=HJG Douglas DC-8-61 repaint by Michael VERLIN ui_manufacturer=Douglas ui_type=DC-8 Super 61 ui_variation=United Air Lines (1974) atc_id=N8089U atc_airline=UNITED atc_flight_number=861 atc_heavy=1 atc_parking_codes=UAL atc_parking_types=GATE,CARGO,RAMPNormally .... a problem, like you're experiencing, is indicative of .... 1. An error associated with the texture folder installation (with the valid texture folder being contained inside the container from the original ZIP file). The UNITED AIR LINES 1974 texture folder you have installed inside your DC8-61 Aircraft Base Pack should read precisely as follows .... texture.united_airlines_1974_61_n8089u 2. An error associated with the SIM= data line in any CFG/FLTSIM.XX/ADD TO AIRCRAFT data (this data line maybe not agreeing precisely with the texture folder name shoul, you, have changed it for any reason). In your particular case .... from what i can see at least .... your CFG editing appears to be "SPOT-ON", so, look at # 1 first and foremost, then check that the texture folder name is in agreance with the CFG/SIM=data .... and, only if this/these suggestions don't resolve your issue, then try out my own CFG/FLTSIM.XX edit I've known of at least 2 past, and very rare occasions, where for whatever peculiar reason, FS hasn't wanted to recognize certain CFG edits .... regardless of however correctly these might have been applied in accordance with standard HJG protocol .... BUT .... I've never, ever, known this perculiarity to impact any of the DC8's. What you're experiencing can't be FLTSIM.0/1/2/3 (etc) related.... or Panel/Sound CFG related .... or even related to inadvertent activation of the wrong FS version CFG either .... because these sorts of situations would normally each result in an entire aircraft subject simply not, then, displaying within the MSFS Aircraft Selection Menu. Thanks Mark for your input. I tried your suggestion and copied and pasted your data also the texture from your response incase I missed something and still will not bring up the texture. Like I said previously in one of my postings above I downloaded this A/C once before with no problems, I had computer issues before now fixed so I went into reinstalling this A/C now this is happening. I get confused when this happens. I have downloaded many A/C's and paint textures thru out the years. Sometimes this happens, that is why I love these forums to get some help from the experts. But I am still having problems with this situation. Not sure what my next step is.

Are you quite certain that you are, indeed, trying to apply your UNITED 1974 DC8-61 texture to the "DC8-61" Aircraft Base Pack .... and not, mistakingly, trying to apply it to the either the DC8-61CF/F Aircraft Base Pack, or any of the DC8-62, -63, or even DC8-50 Aircraft Base Packs ?
Need you to check and confirm this .... because doing something like that will, also, result in precisely what, you say, you are experiencing .... a textureless/"NAKED" model in the MSFS Aircraft Selection Menu.
If this is not a texture/model/Aircraft Base pack mismatch .... or a even valid texture folder still being retained within the cantaining folder from the original ZIP file issue .... then you may have some graphics issues to get sorted out and which are beyond the scope of HJG advice, but, why this should, apparently, affect just your DC8-61 .... I wouldn't have a clue.
There are no known texture display issues/traps with any of the HJG DC8's .... provided that the texture files are always mated with the correct models/Aircraft Base Pack files.

Thanks you all that answered my posting. I did your suggestion Dan, and I have it. I don't understand why the original one did not work but the texture n8075 did (1968 United). Keep on simming
