Hi guys, I am having trouble with your DC-8-61 with the Air Canada, Air France, Delta and United textures installed with it. Some features of the 2D panel aren't operable, and no sound comes out of it. Everything else works, including the smoke system. The only other HJG aircraft I have is the DC-9-10, which I must say is a beauty. Thank you, and have a nice day! ~Nicolas

Thank you very much, I have to get used to the old autopilots, I'm used to flying with the digital ones.

I forgot to add .... It should be noted that each of the supplied HJG DC8 panels are essentially FS2004 compilatioms .... BUT .... they "DO" work each fine in FSX tooThe only thing one won't see/that won't work of these panels in FSX are the nice 2D panel "interior side views" (only) which, collectively, represent the entire DC8 flightdeck interior on the basis of different/selected points of view. Everything else works "FINE" though Mark C AKL/NZ

I installed the panel and sound, the sound files went into the sound folder, in which it asked me to replace it. I replaced it. I made that FSFSCONV folder inside the SIMOBJECTS/AIRPLANES folder, and put the panel folder in there. And then I went to the panel cfg inside the HJG DC-8-61 folder, and there was only the alias line, in which I edited to what is said in the panel install.txt. So, after that, I opened FSX, selected my beautiful HJG United DC-8-61, and started at Portland Intl, Oregon. None of the guages appeared in the 2d flight deck, nor did the VC appear. And the sound wouldn't work. I'm still having problems with it. Thank you for the help so far! ~Nicolas411

If you're talking about the DC8 soundpack .... then that "does" get installed inside the DC8 aircraft base pack and replaces the default MSFS sound folder assignment.
If you're talking about the "PANEL SOUND" components then that's something completely different story.... which I'll try'n explain for you as follows ....
Apart from downloading the DC8 PANEL (either of the 2 -61 versions in your particular case) .... the separate "DC8 PANEL GAUGES/CORE FILES" package must also be downloaded. It's clearly labelled .... at the top of the DC8 PANELS downloads page. This particular file contains all of the necessary/vital components for each of the HJG DC8 panel series .... namely all of the panel GAUGES" and SOUNDS components.
The "PANEL SOUNDS" .... that's the entire "content" of the DC8 PANEL SOUNDS container inside the DC8 PANEL CORE FILES package (39 WAV samples/files) must be installed inside the SOUND folder/directory of FS .... and nowhere else. Do not install these particular components inside the Sound folder of your DC8 aircraft base pack
The "PANEL GAUGES" .... that's the entire "content" of the DC8 PANEL GUAGES container inside the DC8 PANEL CORE FILES package (2 files only) must be installed inside the GAUGES folder of FS .... and nowhere else.
From what you've described .... I believe you've simply forgotten to download and install the DC8 PANEL GAUGES/CORE FILES package.
PLEASE NOTE ALSO .... there is "no VC" for any of the HJG DC8's, but, from my own personal DC8 flightdeck experience (as a jump-seater) the 2D panels offered by HJG are actually "very authentic' .... and they do each work wonderfully well too in both FS versions (provided they're installed correctly) .... save for that minor FSX (only) limitation which I described above/earlier.
