Hello! I've recently seen the wonderful livery of Volotea, painted on a B717. So if anybody is keen enough to do it, feel free! Here are some pictures: Best regards, Elmar

A rather sloppy preview but here it is... Was just experimenting but I've found a way to make it work. To the requester, this will take some tedious work to get right so bare with me and the results should be well worth the wait! Cheers, Rafael

Rafael, a little while ago I started this one but found the layout of the textures on the 717 did not take to well to wrapping the tail to fuselage around it, it became a little distorted and out of perspective. Its a problem when one texture is used for the sides of the fuselage. Garry Russell when creating his CL44 did a top texture for his model to get round the problem. I sort of gave up on this Volotea job I look forward to seeing how you get on, just dont get too bogged down in getting it spot on as you will struggle

It can be corrected if Nick the model creator, actually meshes the fuselage vertices with the tail mesh, it takes a bit of work but then, he would have to re-map both sides of the fuselage and tail but in return, he would be rewarding us with a much better way of laying out those textures, maybe he might do it in the future as an update who knows. I'll try and if I can't get them to textures to align ... ah well, we can't do them all can't we? This precisely another reason why the SPIRIT repaint is at this moment a big ? mark ... the fuselage mapping is not aligning at all with the tail and to be honest, I got so fed up with it, I stowed it away until I have the nerve to get back on it again.

I don't think Nick will change it as its not really worth the trouble for a few liveries. I have had the problem in the past and decided the best approach is the "near enough" method. It may not be accurate but its as good as it gets.

On one of my private requests for an A320, hopefully that person won't come across this but whatever, the requester was unhappy because a 'certain' of a livery I did for them was off by about 2 pixels, like he actually went and took a look a the nook and cranies of the repaint to determine its accuracy and not to mention I was doing this for FREE. I kindly adjusted the stripe to his liking but I've learned that you do something for people and they end up wanting to take both your arms and legs in the process.

In my point of view, there's no need to hurry. I'd prefer something ripe instead of something unready. So thank you very much Rafael for your commitment! : )
Best regards, Elmar

Tony your never going to believe how I made this work and to be honest, I will not paint any more liveries of this bird! I had to squash the texture at the fuselage, after many trial and error attempts I found a line up, not perfect but close enough, it looks good on FS but looks really nasty on the texture templates.
I'll have pictures when its all done and worth showing but this has been no easy task.

Sorry I never heard any more on this one, I did try it but it looked a mess on the model, the other chap who has not been involved with us for a long time never sent me the file, you could send him a private message to see if he still has it??
