Some of those among us, whom share a commitment to aviation, are also aviation photographers that apply considerable time and effort to ensure purposeful recording of the passing parade of air traffic through a particuloar airport or at airports around the world .... "preserving moments of today for hours of historical appreciation tomorrow".
Others among us, whom maybe don´t share any particular commitment to aviation and aren´t so photographically inclined either, but are, none-the-less, still similarly passionate about aviation, are often lured to airports and aviation environments just to appreciate and marvel at the progress of aeronautical engineering as well as soaking up some of the sights and sounds of "aircraft in action".
Most of the aviation-minded among us, as an extention to their interest/hobby, have invested significantly in their own private reference collections/libraries which are extensively comprised of pictorial publications, historical and technical compilations, and video/DVD productions (etc) .... many of which are often dedicated to the remembrance of "aviation past" .... and in doing so .... enjoy reviewing those by-gone days/eras when classic propliners and jetliners were abundant and once the prime means of our being able to travel, by air, from point-A to point-B.
Still other aviation enthusiasts among us, through our modern age of computerisation and virtual reality .... particularly in the form of MSFS .... have discovered yet another medium of aviation hobby/enjoyment (paralell to that which some seek per book and video publications) .... and especially through the abundance of high-quality computer generated 3D models and airline liveries, customized flight dynamics and authentic soundpacks, as well as AI traffic provided by specialist FS freeware groups such as DMFS, HJG, TGCC and others .... and just as importantly too .... through high-quality representations of geographic sceneries from around the world including recreations of both past and present airport environments .... all of which, motivated by a little plain/"PLANE" simple imagination, combine to literally enable any enthusiast to recreate/relive some of the glory days of past world civil aviation using FS2004 and/or FSX.
The following FS video .... by my friend and FS colleague Benoit PLAMONDON .... falls into this 3rd category of aviation enthuisiasm, and as such, is a compilation that could, appropriately, be entitled "AN AIR SPOTTERS DAY AT THE AIRPORT - BACK IN TIME" .... albeit it purely fictional as this one is. This particular video represents just one of many such virtual recreations that are possible using FS. This one features a particular UK airport swarming with a selection of both AI and UI traffic subjects and sounds for FS (some maybe long forgotten by now) and from the 1970´s era .... ENJOY THIS LITTLE VIRTUAL TRIP BACK IN TIME ....
