BLOODY HELL .... that goes back a while .... when I attempted to modify the original YS11 based RR Dart turbo-prop soundpack for the F27 I mean .... actually one of the very first audio modifications I ever attempted. Let's just say that (thanks to my colleague Benoit PLAMONDON) I've learned "A HECK OF A LOT" since then Herman .... you might like to consider downloading the more recent F27 and FH227 files by Frazer McKAY (available at FLIGHTSIM.COM). The panels (both F27 and FH227 versions) accompanying each of these fuiles are "b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l" .... and certain elements within the more recent RR Dart turbo-prop engine soundpack which also accompany these same files are "superior" to the work I attempted all those years ago. Frazers packages still use the same Mike STONE model/s .... although these might have been ehanced slightly too, but, I'm not entirely sure about that. Tony's ANSETT and NZNAC textures should still fit these same models though. Here's the specific file names for you (everyone) .... Fraser McKAY F27 - FS2004 "ONLY" Frazer McKAY FH227 - FS2004 "ONLY"I can "STRONGLY RECOMMEND" these files .... along with those for his more recent VISCOUNT update too .... VICKERS VISCOUNT 700 - FS2004 VERSIONVICKERS VISCOUNT 700 - "FSX" VERSIONFILE NAME = vcv700_fsx.zip------------------------------------------------------------------------ VICKERS VISCOUNT 800 - FS2004 VERSIONVICKERS VISCOUNT 800 - "FSX" VERSIONFILE NAME = vcv800_fsx.zip------------------------------------------------------------------------ VICKERS VISCOUNT 810 - FS2004 VERSIONVICKERS VISCOUNT 810 - "FSX" VERSIONFILE NAME = vcv810_fsx.zip------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you (anyone) hasn't already done so .... THEN .... the HS748 and AW ARGOSY simulations (to which Fraser has similarly comntributed in a major way) are also very well worthy of consideration also. Each of these are available from the CBFS website .... www.cbfsim.co.uk/CBFS_HOME.phpMark C AKL/NZ

OK....thanks Mark for all the accompanying information. I do believe this is the FMK panel that you are reffering to. It's agreat panel and I am using it on all the F-27's. I am also using the updated FMK Vickers Viscount panels on all the Viscounts. Herman

What you've got there Herman looks to be the "FH227 panel specific version". Fraser's 2011 released packages (separate ones for both the F27 and FH227 .... as referenced by me above) .... feature 2 distinctly different looking panel versions for each aircraft type although these do each more-or-less work similarly. This's the panel featured within his exclusively "F27 FRIENDSHIP" package of 2011 .... .... and this's the one featured within his exclusively "FAIRCHILD/HILLER FH227" package which was also released during 2011 .... As I recall .... both the F27 and FH227 differ somewhat in terms of their weight and powerplants .... the FH227 primarily being the aircraft version that was produced by FAIRCHILD/HILLER in the USA under license to FOKKER in tHe Netrherlands. Just check that the panels/packages you have are in fact the 2011 versions .... as released by Fraser McKAY. As I recall Tony's F27 repaints are pre 2006 (not that there's anything wrong with that .... because their isn't) .... BUT .... I can't remember if the the packages he uploaded included a panel or not. "IF" they did, then, it would most certainnly be a much earlier version of one of the above. I know Tony's uploads definitely included my audio modifications (because I recall him asking me) .... BUT .... as I said before .... that particular early audio attempt by me has now been more successfully superseded by Frasers own audio which is also included within both of these 2011 released packages. The same also applies in regard to Frasers VICOUNT packages too. There are .... definitely .... earlier versions of each of these 3 panels .... so one really needs to be sure one's actually using the latest versions released during 2012 .... in order to be able to enjoy "THE MOST SATISFYING RESULT/EXPERIENCE" As I recall .... the AW ARGOSY and HS748 packagers were each released during 2006 and 2007 respectively, but, the files hosted on the CBFS website should be the latest and most complete/up-to-date versions of these .... featuring all of the appropriate fixes and improvements developed since. OK....thanks Mark. I will have a look at my files and check to see the dates and update anything that needs to be updated.
I recall that the repaints by Tony were separate, and required a download of Mike Stone's F-27-200.

Hello, which Fokker was the one, that crashed in the Chilean Andes in 1972? And what company was that? I only know the title of the dramatization "Los supervivientes de los Andes" from 1976. It´s the one, where the surviving people were forced to become cannibals, due to the fact, that they had no more food, so they ate the dead ones. Both movies (including the Remake "Alive!" from 1993) were gruesome.

That was FUERZA AEREA de URUGUAY T-571 .... C/N # 572 It was a US FAIRCHILD/HILLER produced FH227-D/LCD version .... and was written-off in the famous accident in Cordillera de los Andes (on the Argentinan side) en-route beteween Mendoza, Argentina and Santiago, Chile on October 13th 1972 .... and which ocurred primarily as the result of a serious navigational error/miscalculation. The aircraft had been chartered by a Uruguayan college rugby team and its supporters to fly them all from Montivideo to Santiago in order to play the same Chillean college rugby team they had successfully beaten the year before. The rest of the story is quite well known of course .... without going into the specifics of it .... but .... it has been popularised by the following 2 feature films .... "SURVIVE" (1975) .... a Mexican production that was not very well done at all .... and .... "ALIVE" (1993) .... a US/Canadian production and which was particularly well done .... www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmAMZodaGpEwww.youtube.com/watch?v=si12yPyTnSs2 very good books were written on the subject too .... "ALIVE" by Piers Paul REID (1974 .... in collaboration with the survivors) .... and .... "MIRACLE IN THE ANDES" by Nando PARADO (2006 .... probably the most well known/famous survivor of the incident along with Roberto CANESSA) There have of course been any number of other dramatized documentary films .... and articles written about this incident over the years too. Yes, it was definitely a story of courage and the will to survive. I heard, that one will suffer from cramps in the abdomen if you eat ice/snow on a sober stomach. Not too nice I personally liked the Mexican movie "Survive!" from 1976. www.imdb.com/title/tt0075290/?ref_=nv_sr_4Maybe you dislike it, Mark, because the details weren´t always correct. But as always: A Mexican production never has the budget of a Hollywood movie. But I think, the mood and the atmosphere of the situation was definitely there, so the movie served its purpose. The newer film (from 1993) was nice (and surely done more properly) but I hated the character of Ethan Hawke, being pushed from the part of the now familiyless poor and silent guy to the hero, who encourages the others. It was obvious, why that happened, as he was the well-known star at that time. But they should have done that in a much more convincing way. Then it would be credible. But: This is only my opinion. However, it is time for me to download this FH-227 Hermann

Unless I'm mistaken .... I thought I'd heard, recently/not too long ago, something about the possiblitly of there being yet another movie remake of this particular story.
I guess we'll just have to wait'n see what happens.
"SURVIVE" was the very first movie made about these events .... and it did have it's strengths .... BUT .... the reason I liked "ALIVE" better is simply because it repesented what actually happened with far greater accuracy .... being based almnost erntiely upon the book, by the same title, by Piers Paul REID .... and with direct input from survivors Nando PARADO, Carlitos PAEZ, and Coche INCIATE whom became technical advisors to the US/Canadian film unit which made "ALIVE".

These are interesting news. That would be the 3rd cinematic movie of this event. Will it be an american movie or an chilean this time?

I found this "History Chanel" documentory very interesting.
It is mainly narrated by the survivors.

Hermann...a couple of hints about these models with the Fraser McKay panels.
I found that I had to modify the Radio section in the aircraft cfg in order to get the radio's to function properly ie. to be able to change the radio frequencies.
Also, for reasons unknown to me, if I used the "Pause " function for a period longer then 10 minutes, when I resumed the flight both engines would shut down. I have no idea how or there was any kind of connection.

"INTERESTING" observation Herman. I don't want to turn this thread into a non-HJG simulation support thread .... BUT ANYWAY .... I hadn't struck that particular issue .... in that I've no problem. at all, in being able to select either COM, VOR, or ADF radio frequencies in either of these 2011 re-released panels, but, having become intrigued by you report .... I, just now, performed a short Auckland/Tauranga domestic flight (once plied daily by NZNAC and AIR NEW ZEALAND F27's) and almost immediately ran into the following issue .... Having "correctly" set my VOR and ADF navigation radios for this particular flight the associated indications didn't want to giove me any bearings at all. I was consequently forced to do something I've seldom ever done before .... and use that (horrible) MSFS default GPS in order to get where I was intending to go. "UNLESS" .... I've failed to activate a particular feature among the relatively complex systems featured within these F27/FH227 panels. As for your apparent uncommanded engine shutdown .... I've never paused this, or any other simulation, that long in order to experience that. Just comming back to Tony's release which we briefly discussed earlier .... I did locate this particular file (datedf 2005), at FS.COM, and have now noted that it does include a panel by Fraser .... BUT .... it's definitely one of his earlier versions (by virtue of the date of that particular release) and not one of those featured within his more recent 2011 re-release .... so far as I can determine. This particular panel version is also supported by a checklist/manual compiled by Werner SCHOTT .... I think is his name. In regard to this later re-release .... The only detail I'm aware of and which must be born in mind (having caught-out a number of folk in the past) is that after landing .... "DO NOT" .... apply reverse pitch per the standard "F2" MSFS reverse thrust keyboard command .... OR .... one will end up sitting on ones arse/tail and basically break/prang the simulation. Instead .... upon landing and once settled on the RWY .... simply idle both thrust levers "completely" (all-the-way-back). As one does this one will/should then hear mild evidence (per the soundpack) of the prop "ground effect"/tone taking effect .... and which is how F27/FH227 aircraft are descelerated rapidly .... "IF" that needs to be done at all. One will then need to boost engine power slightly after landing and desceleration in order to be able to taxi normaly and at a sensible speed. I really don't know/recall .... Mark C AKL/NZ

Actually .... I've only just realised that the greater part (if not the entirety of it) of my own radios/NAV frequencies problem (mentioned above) could just be that the NAV aids/frequencies (according to my New Zealand Airways Corporation ER charts) I was trying to reference simply may not be represented within MSFS .... as is often the case with some of these in, what M$ might regard being, less significant global real estate SO THEN .... the radio/frequencies issue that I confronted me may not be a relevent panel/radios related one after all ?
