There's a couple of variations of WESTERN livery .... including the natural metal and red/black version too which applied to their DC10-10's (but I'm not sure about their -30's as these might have gone by the time it was introduced) and, like Matt's WESTERN AA "suggestion" of today we don't have yet.
The white AMERICAN AIRKLINES DC10-10 (N912WA) is simply an aircraft that WESTERN leased to SCANAIR during 1987 .... and whom sub-leased it to AMERICAN during 1988 .... and during which time it supported a hybrid livery of white and natural metal WESTERN underwear with AMERICAN clothing (stripes, titles, and tail logo) over the top. After it's AMERIcAN sojourn it went back to SCANAIR as SE-DHX during 1989.
The 2nd WESTERN AIRLINES DC10-10 operated by AMERICAN AIRLINES in precisely the same hybrid livery style was N908WA .... which was also leased to SCANAIR and then subleased to AMERICAN during 1988 .... before returning to SCANAIR as SE-DHZ and which was named "Moby thingy".

matth737:
I used to fly Western quite a bit. My thought is this, Airlines have a habit in which they repaint in stages so that they can have minimum downtime. The red stripe and "W" is part of the "Bud Lite" paint scheme which was the final before before being bought by Delta. The aircraft was being repainted.

"TAKE IT .... and RUN" Tony .... if you're talking about the natual metal/red/black finisghed one/s (we don't have any of these yet) .... and .... check also if this particular version applied to both the DC10-10 and DC10-30 also/whilst you're at it too .... "IF" you're contemplating these. You might also want to "consider" the abovementioned white/red/natural metal finished version as well .... for both the DC10-10 and DC10-30 also .... I think. Just bear in mind though that I do already have this following white/red/pale grey version for the DC10-30 .... WESTERN AIRLINES DC10-30 N821L (1982) .... ex AIR NEW ZEALAND ZK-NZN ! .... and the same white/red/pale grey livery on following 2 DC10-10's (with a few differences) are already available/downloadale also .... WESTERN AIRLINES DC10-10 N902WA (1979) .... with "DC10 SPACESHIP" nose titles and early splitter plates on the tail pipes of each engine ! WESTERN AIRLINES DC10-10 N914WA (1981) .... with modified engine tail pipes ! Any other variations .... including the AMWERICAN leased WESTERN aircraft too .... are open/yet to be done Mark C AKL/NZ
