Hi All.
Before I start the long and tedious job of making the DC-8-61 texture sets, I'd thought that I will show you another model that is being worked on.
It is still in alpha stage complete with warts and all. Still a little bit of construction to be done, but also a lot of animation and a bit of texture work required.
When completed, this will be the close up LOD, so it's highly detailed, with a poly count to achieve this.
As usual, no release dates, so don't ask, you won't get an answer.

This is an FSDS conversion of Erick's Gmax TriStar with changes for AI and a few corrections and additions.
It uses the standard textures converted to DXT1 with the usual white alpha that I use.
I will be adding another layer to one of the BMPs to add textures required for the AI version, but will work without them, as these pictures show.

Uh oh uh oh I want Eastern L1101 AI traffic!! Is it for FSX and is there any very very very very very easy guide to install AI and flight plans into FSX Deluxe with SP1 and SP2? Regards, Aharon Hi Aharon . It's designed for FS9, but should also work perfectly in FSX. It's still a WIP, but getting closer to just bug hunting and final tweaking of the main model. I don't have FSX, but I do know that if the flight plan you have is for FS9, you will need to run it through a utility to convert it for FSX. Do a search on AI flight plans and FSX, and you should find what you want. If not, let me know and I'll get you some Eastern AI flight plans. Paul |

Paul, Thanks for your kind offer. Since I did not know it is still WIP, I will wait until this exciting L1011 AI project is complete and ready. You have plans for Air Canada L1011s AI package too? I am looking forward to awesome lineup display of Eastern L1011s in my screenshot!!! I think that can happen in KATL airport at specific time. Right? Regards, Aharon Hi Aharon. AMAZING work Paul. Drat, when there are models there aren't flightplans, when there are flightplans there aren't models, when there are models and flightplans there aren't repaints for a proper, more or less complete vintage jets traffic pack. So I still rely on the worst looking traffic pack to have classic jets era traffic...My Traffic 2006  if only I could find enough models and the necessary repaints to replace most if not all the models included in My Traffic 2006...so I'd have beautiful models flown by My Traffic 2006 flightplans. BTW, those are some huge screenshots, and very beautiful too (if by boring you mean beautiful, then yeah, they're boring ). PS: Hope you had a terrific birthday! |

Older, but none the wiser!! You can try www.retroai.net for flight plans, as Kris is now getting it updated again, but there are more in the forums retroai.proboards.com/. Not so many 2000's but plenty of earlier ones. The screen shots are at my native resolution of 4096 x 2160, so they are large. Compressing them down gives them too many artefacts for my liking! Much easier to model at high res as you can see what you are doing better, and these hi-res models look sharp, where most of the AIA ETC, are blurred.in FS9. I could never go back to a small monitor again. You can't cant see or do enough. Broke the bank though I hope you like the bird when it's available. Best regards. Paul |

Been wanting to make myself such a classic traffic pack, using the flightplans at RetroAI, but I found some erroneous flightplans there, plus, I could never find all the necessary models and repaints to be flown by those flightplans, I gave up. But I got used to MyTraffic; if one day I'll be able to replace those ugly models with better ones, huraaay, if not...so be it. Well at least I have a way better traffic for the earlier era..of the propliners. I use the wonderful traffic pack available at CalClassic for that, it also features a bunch of early jets.

Some of the flight plans were made before the MRAI compiler was released, and do have some errors, as they are hand made. Most of the later ones should be better. Before I retire, I intend to compile the worldwide OAG for Spring 1977 that I have. Should take me several years I guess!! Getting repaints for models is always difficult, but more become available every day, but never enough or not colour matched. My world is set into decades, but at the moment, they are all active  Nice to see a Connie beating a 747 to the runway  Paul |
