With deepest apologies to Dan, and an acknowledgement that it is doubtless ME who is messing up. I have spent all yesterday evening and all of this morning following every diffeent instruction on here in an effort to install the DC10-13 and it's Bcal and Laker textures. I have failed. I have even sent two polite messages to Dan suggesting changes to his instructions: ignore those Dan, they are wrong, I have no doubt. So for now, I must do without. Unless someone else has managed to install them into FSX_Steam and can instruct me. I'm a dufus, I admit it.

Lots of views, no help. Cool.
I now discover that the BCal testure file is formatted in .bmp files whereas the testures which work on other (non HFG) DC 10 planes are formatted in DDS files. Should THAT make a difference?

Nope, that doesn't- make any difference. dds is just more effective as texture files as they load quicker and are smaller... but bmp's are of higher quality ... you can't have both :-) FSX-SE is relatively new, but basically the same thing as FSX, so a long way down the path you can use the same instructions, but some config files etc. may be placed differently and other places than in FSX, so for the time being, I uge you to use your common sense and use the things from my guidances, for the most, and for the FSX-SE differences we will provide you some specific details at a later point, same goes for Prepar3d .... As usual, I will and cannot give you any dates.

Thanks Dan. I kinda solved it a different way. Took another model of the DC10-30 and did my own repaint.
Working wonderfully. THANKS

"ALL" textures files, offered by HJG, are formatted in (TEXTURE NAME).BMP type format .... and always have been .... and work perfectly fine in either FS2004 and/or FSX.

You know what's truly sad about this thread. Both Dan and aerofoto cannot accept that, even when their install instruictions are followed to the letter, sometimes, the models STILL won't show up. It's that kind of blind dogma that costs so many lives in wars.
And the defensive nature of your reply, aerofoto speaks volumes. I NEVER suggested BMPs could be causing my failure. I ASKED if they could. Dan was kind enough to dismiss that possibility.
I had, by that time, exhausted ALL other possibilities with the DC-10-30. ALL of them.
You have, on this site, an astonishing and wonderful collectiomn of models. All I want is to get some of them so that I can use them>
So far, despite your best instructions, I have failed, and so resorted to an external solution.
Instead of criticising me, and implying what a dufus I am, perhaps you could consider trying to help.
Or is that beneath your flight level?

"JOHNDLEWIS" .... you're entitled to your opinion, but, I couldn't "DISAGREE" with it more strongly You say you've tried. We have to accept that. BUT .... at the end of the day "WE" ..... whom try to analyse and assist ..... can only make assumptions in regard whatever someone might have done that's resulted in their particular problem/issue. , Dan's tried to help/offer his oppinion (citing common sense being essential .... and which I agree with in principle) .... and in regard to FSX related matters he's seldom wrong .... if ever. As for my part/participation .... nobody's being "DEFENSIVE" .... and I simply stated (reconfirmed) that "ALL" HJG textures are in fact "BMP formatted" (solely for the benefit of everyone elses clear understanding) .... and nothing more, or less, than that is/was intended .... other than whatever you may seem to want to interpret. In addition to that .... "NOBODY" .... in so far as my reading of this thread is concerned, has criticised, accused, or implied, that anyone else is a "DUFUS" .... and as such I think your comments are out of order, unfounded, unnecessary, as well as being quite unjustified too .... to the extent that "THIS" is neither way to solicit nor encourage help/assistance from people whom give up their free time in order to try'n do so. Perhaps your new to the HJG forums .... BUT .... it might surprise you to learn that we, at HJG, do pride ourselves on our principles .... and in putting ourselves out in order to try'n help people (in particular) enjoy what we produce .... and mostly successfully too .... and as such we maintain a flight level, here, that's much higher than that which most other similar groups even try to bother to achieve. We can help some of the people some of the time .... BUT .... not all of the people all of the time."THAT" .... and interpretation/misinterpretation of what we reply is the only "SAD" thing about this particular thread .... BUT .... we do, of course, understand, pefectly, peoples frustration when things don't seem to go right If that's the case .... then .... would that not render your entire last response "UNNECESSARY" Mark C AKL/NZ

Hi John. I'm sad that my attempt of explaining for you made you feel like a dufus..(I don't know what a dufus is though, but it doesn't sound nice).
I'm running FSX and has done so for quite some years now. All my guidances are made based on that, and tried several times and confirmed to work.... in FSX.
Several people have been following my guidances "to the letter" only to find out later on once they got a bit more accuainted with the set-up, that they didn't after all ....
Having said that, I once again will point out that FSX:SE and FSX is MORE OR LESS the same, although config-files and other files may have shifted places, as already stated.
