I have tried the instructions and then the detailed ones and nothing is working. To begin with, my base package has 0 files in either the sound or the panels folders, save the .cfg file in each. It is also confusing because it says to "delete the file "aircraft.cfg" and rename the file "aircraft_fsx.cfg" to "aircraft.cfg"." (1) There is already an aircraft_fsx_cfg file (2) How can I change the aircraft.cfg file to aircraft_fsx.cfg if I just deleted it?
I am very confused.

The B727's offered here aren't FSX native .... BUT .... can still be used in FSX. I'm not the FSX specialist here .... BUT .... know enough to (basically) advise in regard to the following details. 1. Each of the HJG Aircraft Base Pack downloads with its FS2004 AIRCRAFT.CFG file activated by default .... in other words it doesn't need editing for FS2004 (only) use. Along with this (in the case of the B727's at least) a 2nd file is provided named AIRCRAFT_FSX.CFG and which is intended For FSX use. The default FS2004 CFG should be deleted .... and the remaining AIRCRAFT_FSX.CFG file then renamed "AIRCRAFT.CFG". That (above) is the very first step .... and it's this particular step that the Installation Instructions contained within each Aircraft Base Pack serve to guide you in respect of the said deletion 2. Inside each B727 Aircraft Base Pack folder are 2 sub folders .... named Panel and Sound. Within each of thse folders are corresponding default CFG files also .... which, once again, are configured for FS2004 use (only) and read as follows .... [fltsim] alias=B747_400\panel [fltsim] alias=B737_400\sound Again .... the above alias data is FS2004 specific. For FSX use this alias data also needs to be edited to reflect the default FSX panel and sound assignments. I'm not sure what these are in FSX (I don't use that particular FS version at all), but, understand the sound alias, at least, may be B737_800 .... or B737-800 .... you'll need to check how these 2 default assignments should actually read for FSX, then, ensure both of the HJG CFG's read accordingly. Failure to get this alias data right, or any other configuration errors too (FSX "IS", unfortunately, more sensitive in these respects), will result in the simulation not appearing within the FSX Aircraft Selection Menu .... and which is most likely the foundation of your particular experience. 3. If you propose to install the HJG supplied PROBST/VCARTY B737 panel/s, then once again, these download with the FS2004 PANEL.CFG file activated .... and which needs to be dumped .... with the remaining PANEL_FSX.CFG file then renamed "PANEL.CFG". This is the extent to which I can assist you with FSX .... other than to point you in the direction of each of the following 3 FSX specific installation tutorials .... all of which "DO" work .... if followed correctly .... FSX INSTALLATION tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/1662/installing-hjg-aircraft-fsxEASIEST FSX INSTALLATION tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/2081/easiest-installing-fsx-imhoANOTHER FSX INSTALLATION OPTION tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/3033/third.... and short of community based FSX specific input too.
