Well heres some more "Information" for others to Read & Sift thru for Hours, Days, Weeks, Months , going into "YEARS" , if your really seriously interested in maybe "1 day in the Far Distant Future", of ever being able to Have any A.I. Retro Aircraft in your Simulator, whatever version now days

Be advised "any potential new comers" trying to inject any A.I. Add-On Aircraft, Retro Aircraft Jetliners, or any other type of Aircraft, into your Simulator, this process is "NOT" - "NOT" some quick 30 minute or 2 hour process !!!

At Best, plan on spending anywhere from 1 FULL WEEK to 3 weeks just reading the AIFP Documentation PDF Manual,, just get the Basic Understanding of AIFP operation and how its supposed to function / work.

Then Allow yourself at least anywhere from 6 Months to 2 years or longer just to figure it out and everything it can and can not do.

That would "Include" all the massive amounts of Reading of different FORUM Boards and watching countless hours of VIDEO Tutorials, for users to get the hang of it, maybe?

Any type of RUSH JOB "Assumptions" or just "Glancing over the Documentation and thinking you've got the "Jest of it", will result in Aircraft "NOT" Displaying / Showing up anywhere you thought you assigned them to, whatever Airport and all the time wasted attempting to make flight plans for your "RETRO A.I. Aircraft", that will "Never show up anywhere" !!!!

I am 3 Years and 2 months into this A.I. Attempted Flight planning and have yet to have even 1 single A.I. Add On show up anywhere, using either AIFP or that TT TOOLS Program.

Tho, I have read and re'read, and re'read the Documentation countless of times, during those times (2015 thru 2018), its to NO Avail and evidently neither program evidently appears to work correctly, ""except for a handful of Flight Simmers"", from the many Hundreds & Thousands of Flight Simmers out there across the globe / World !!

As I also see "very few Video's", utilizing any of these A.I. Aircraft, Retro or otherwise, most simmers just use a Trouble Free A.I. Traffic Add On , that automatically adds A.I. Aircraft Traffic into their simulator with whatever airline add ons, and auto generated Flight Plans.

So, the Short of this is, IF, you enjoy wasting countless of hours reading all kinds of technical Jargon until it boggles your mind and you enjoy Tinkering with something for weeks, months, years eventually finding out it will never actually work, then those 2 programs are for YOU !!!!

If YOU do enjoy wasting countless of hours reading and sifting thru all kinds of Forum Boards and user questions on this particular "A.I. Add On' Topic",, then heres some more LINKS for you to knock yourself out with !!!

Also, Don't forget to take time out and EAT once in a while, walk outside and smell the roses & grass and see actual REAL Sunlight, Pet your Dog and or kick the Cat , as well as PAY YOUR BILLS too, nothing worse than sitting in front of your computer , and having it go Dark and the entire house go Dark , because you forgot to pay the Electric Bill, cause' you YOU were so caught up in trying to figure this stuff out !!! as the days weeks flew by !!

Not every FS enthusiast likes to use AI traffic (and that preference .... and the fact not everyone cares to participate in any forum either .... each need being born-in-mind) .... and I'm one whom (personally) "opts not to" to use AI traffic .... but that's beside the point in regard to the rest all of this.


This's my "last" comment on this particular subject .... short of my possibly being able provide definitive support of a nature that leads to "positive resolution" .... or my otherwise "needing to" reply later


It would, I feel, be far more beneficial if you simply cut to the chase and advise us "precisely how you've tried installing Paul's AI traffic" .... step by step.

It doesn't not work (or it simply wouldn't be uploaded here) .... except when it's not installed correctly to start with.

It's frustrating when things doesn't appear/work .... we appreciate that .... BUT .... "if" things don't work (for you or anyone else) .... then .... there's normally "a darned good and simple reason for that" .... and typically it's because a fundamental but vital step has been misunderstood or otherwise performed incorrectly .... HOWEVER .... when things don't work then kindly don't (seemingly) take it out on projects or their developers .... since that sort of negativity neither advances nor assists anyones case or cause.

AGAIN .... explain "precisely what you've done" .... and step by step .... so (hopefully) your error can be identified .... and corrected .... otherwise we simply can't help and that's not for our not wanting to try and assist a successful resolution.

Sorry about your problems mate.

It is possible without alot of hair pulling, but yes to do true AI traffic for any era except recent you need patience. I've always used TTools and MRAI to generate flightplans and import them in FS2004. In FSX I've been playing with methods. Since i don't use FSX for a retro era right now i haven't bothered as much.

AIFP though a nice tool generates lots of issues you don't need to fix, just be careful of what it says is wrong vs what works.

I'll try to pay attention to this thread again.

Theres only 2 Airports I'm wanting to TEST OUT with only 1 single HJG Aircraft , only 1 Aircraft, and it doesn't matter which one exactly.

the whole point is trying to learn to master that AIFP Program, while I have the time, before April / May get here, then I won't have time,, until next winter !

it resides as #2 aircraft in THE CFG File, BUT IS LISTED AS [1] because there is already another one just above it, as [0]

in 3 years this aircraft has not showed up ,,,

I'm about thru tinkering with this AIFP Program and reading thru the PFD Documentiuon again and again,,,

time to send it to the WINDOWS TRASH BIN along with the few AI Aircraft and move on to something more useful and benifical !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm NOT going to spend the 2 to 6 weeks trying to make this work, time is running out before this AIFP Program hits the TRASH BIN forever !!!

It looks like you have already put a lot of time and effort into this project. I have never attempted to compile AI traffic and traffic files myself, so I certainly can't help you out,but I was curious about the airports and aircraft you were interested in.

A question. Why are you not using the tested and correct add to aircraft file?

The above cfg looks like its a modified UI aircraft and unless you have changed the texture directory name, it will be naked!

This is the supplied file with the textures that should be amended to the cfg supplied with the AI base pack.

All you have to do is add the flightsim number, in your case 1.

If you have an aircraft (DC-8) that is texture-less, that would be the reason.

Also, if FSX is like FS9, there is a setting to change the amount of AI that is displayed.
This is normally set low, but on my system it is set to 100% so all the AI shows up. It is quite possible that this also prevents it appearing naked.

As I said before, unless the model shows up in the aircraft selection window (textured or not), it won't appear in the sim.
Please confirm that you can see the DC-8 in the aircraft selection window. Unless you answer the questions that we ask, we cannot help you.

Aircraft shows up as Braniff , that's NOT the issue !!!!

Finally got around to making AIFP somewhat work.

I get Aircraft to show up ,

I create a Leg / Flight Plan from A to B , and back again to A, originating Airport.

Now the issue is I'm somehow getting double Aircraft or multiple Aircraft of the same livery mirroring each other ? almost on top of each other.

Also downloaded and installed the NEW A.I. Caravelle packs, using the AIFP Program, after tons of hours of testing and seeing what different menu windows do and where they take me.

I'm able to have Sud Caravelle A.I.'s show up along with DC-8's, but sometimes I get doubles of each aircraft ?

Tried deleting, 1 Leg of the flight plan , but then it wouldn't let me compile the flight plan with just that 1 leg, so, added the next departure leg to that flight plan.

I've spaced the departure times 2 to 4 hours apart from arrival times,,,,

can't figure out why I'm getting doubles of the same aircraft tho ?

something I'm entering in the AIFP Program is telling it to make that extra aircraft

Am also able to get the A.I. Aircraft to show up on both my RADAR Screens as A.I. Traffic, both the FLYPAD and the CB 5000 NAVRAD, AND MONITOR them as they come in for approach to arriving airport.

Hi Jetranger.

Just taking the above snippet of a flight plane will give you 2 x Sabena Caravelles as you call up AC#21 twice.
Same for the DC-8 flight plan above, you only call up one aircraft, AC#1, which has the same flight plan for each, so you will have four of the same aircraft
taking off and landing at the same time and place.

All those with unique schemes are only called up ones, and the generics, as many times as required.

So to have no duplicates, you need to only call up that AC# once, and the flight plan has no duplication's.

Without seeing your full fight plan and AC file I can only speculate on the cause.

See whats "Confusing" me, is what they say, when planning a Flight for any A.I. Aircraft, is that you have to have the aircraft depart from the airport - go where ever - and return to the same airport

So, when I create the 1st departing Leg in that Menu window

I then also Create the RETURN LEG using the same aircraft , BUT with different return times, that MENU Window is still somewhat confusing me as to rather I should just have 1 ENTRY and close it out - ?

then create the return Leg in the same window , and COMPILE each leg separately , so as NOT to have the duplicate aircraft darn near riding each others back ??

Think I'm clicking on something I shouldn't be or creating a flight I don't need to be too many times ,,,,

I tried just creating 1 flight , thinking it automatically create the return leg back to the originating airport, which it did not, the program wouldn't let me compile it,,, anyway that way,,,

I'm getting the Aircraft to actually to finally show up at the specified times,, and take off FLY and Land,,, which wasn't the case before, I go to the airport and NO PLANE at all,,, they were out there, I was showing up at the wrong time and in 1 instance , Showing up in the wrong SEASON ??

Once I clicked on SUMMER Season , poof they showed up.

PAUL, Should I only create the outbound Departing Flight then Compile that 1 flight ,,,,,

then go back and create the RETURN Flight separately and compile that flight and that work ??

Am I Creating a flight on TOP of a flight why I'm getting double aircraft riding each other ?

Hi Jetranger.

I've never used AIFP, so cannot help you with how and why it does what it does.
I have only used the old MRAI compiler, and what you do with that is as I showed you a few years back.
You feed in all the data into a spreadsheet and tell it the aircraft type, and it will then get the aircraft to fly multiple destinations over the days specified. There is no seasons in the MRAI data, but you do specify the day(s).
It then produces the flight plans (once you sort out all the errors), and you manual add the AC# etc to it.
I would suggest that you visit the Retro AI forums and ask in the timetable help forums about AIFP, as I know some of them use that and FSX.
They also have a lot of flight plans readily available for download along with the repaints.

I guess with AIFP you will also have to manually add the AC# etc, but as I said, I have never used that program, so do not know if that is the case.

At least you are getting the planes to show up now. The DC-8 flight plane seems to be identical for each line. You could manually change the AC# and times to make them different.

For example:-

I'm slowly getting the hang of this AIFP after seriously digging into it for the last week for hours on end, seeing what all it can do, and just what all the many many menu screens will do, and what the menu screens and drop down boxes actually do.

Theres lots and lots this program will do and CHECK for errors automatically and warn users too !!

Started off just experimenting few years ago back in 2015,,, and again in 2016 - 2017 and finally I had time this winter to really dig into it to figure it out, it is daunting , even with the PDF Manual in front of me on the other screen.

Too much programmer talk not enough common explanation , part of the problem.

I'm getting there , and its workin like its supposed to, just still figuring out all the other many things a user can do with it !

Be nice tho if I had ol' Don who wrote the program sitting here beside me, make this a whole lot easier !!!

I'm getting there, be another few weeks till I have it about 90% figured out where I feel comfortable with it.

Hopefully I'll still have some hair on my head afterwards !!!!!!

Yup', its learning all the TOOLS and what they actually do, is time consuming !

I have finally figured out 75% of the program so far.

and am now past Experimenting, and feel confident that I went ahead and added several flights to Airports of my PAYWARE Airports and some FREEWARE Airports.

I now have Vintage 747SP's, DC-8's , Sud Caravelles, Lear 25's, and Concordes cruising the Virtual Skies in my FSX.

The Concorde' A.I.'s I had to make myself, as what I found was out there were for like FS 2002/2004 ,, and were of poor Quality texture wize and evidently nobody has since made any good quality Concorde A.I.'s for AI use.

found some Hi Quality A.I. HD Textures of the Sud Caravelle's, that were recently released, so I grabbed them and got some of them up and flying too.

Stumbled across A.I. HD Textures of the 747SP A.I. Textures, by accident, used them too, their up and cruising the skies too !!!

next up will be the 737-200 HD A.I. Textures, soon as I find time to prepare everything else.

I Almost gave up on this program, glad now I didn't !!!

I'm off for more Flight Planning Training, stay tuned soon for a YOU TUBE Video, showing what I've done so far, but, that's time consuming too !!!
