Ok, so this one might be from left field, but I'll give it a shot.
On the 707 Autopilot panel, When I hove the mouse over the Pitch/Trim Wheels it will tell me what the current ROC/ROD is, further when I click on it it will then tell me the revised setting that it is moving to.
So, now the question. The Pitch Wheel on the DC-8 AP does not do this...Is there a way to get it to?

No there's not The reason for this variation is because one AP has been compiled so as to display such data in the form of a TOOL TIP (I think you call it) .... whereas the other (the for the DC-8's), being a much earlier compilation, isn't. Using the DC-8 AP .... one mouse clicks on the upper portion of the VERT SPEED Thumb Wheel in order to induce descent .... and on the lower portion of the VERT SPEED Thumb Wheel in ordr to induce ascent/climb. Each individual mouse click, on the Vert Speed Thumb Wheel, results in an approximately 100 FPM adjustment to any established, or desired, ROD/ROC. One needs to focus on what one's doing, or has done, to induce ROD/ROC, and then, verify that against whatever's being displayed within the VSI gauge .... and make whatever further asjustments are necessary. For a much clearer description of the DC-8 AP .... please refer to the AP sections of each DC-8 panel description within my following forum based online manual for our DC-8's .... "DC-8 PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLIJNG NOTES/MANUAL"tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/8019/hjg-panel-installation-handling-notesEach panel version .... though looking similar in some cases .... is "different" .... and has some features that work "differently" too .... hence a different description of each individual panel version is necessary and are provided throughout this particular manual. The AP function/s of each indiviadual DC-8 panel are identical though. You'll also find my usual and very comprehensive DC-8 flying guide data at the very end of this particular manual too Mark C AKL/NZ
