Hello all at HJG, I'm not sure where to put this, but I made a repaint of your beautiful MD-82 model into the colours of N312RC, the ill-fated Northwest Airlines MD-82 that crashed in 1987. A screen shot is below. I was wondering if it would be possible if my paint could be hosted on your site full of wonderful aircraft. If it isn't possible, that's perfectly fine. Thank you.

UMMM .... I kind of in 2 minds over this Your texture preview looks "GREAT" .... and provided we don´t already represent the very same livery/identity for an interim liveried REPUBLIC/NORTHWEST "MD-82" (Í´ve not yet checked) .... then .... I´d like to consider adding it to our inventory (fully credited to you of course) .... subject to closer inspection of it and a "registration change" too if such is appropriate to that particular aircraft type/livery combination so long as such (a rego edit) remains historically authentic. We/HJG "do not" excercize any strict policy in regard to "crashed" aircraft .... in fact any number of texture subjects we currently offer do indeed relate to hull loss subjects, but, this´s usually comes about as the result of the either of the following justifications .... 1. Our wanting to fully represent historic or period liveries supported by aircraft of various airlines/operators (among which variations of livery/identity have possibly existed) and whereby such representions (of a crashed aircraft) are avoidable by virtue of this particular desire. 2. Our not being aware that a particular livery subject produced/offered by us is actually representative of a "pranged" aircraft at the time of its release. What I´ve seen "a fair bit of" over recent years (on the principle FS web sites) is an apparent purposeful representation of "crashed" aircraft (sometimes within only weeks of such a disaster occuring) by some texture artists .... as a supposed memorial tribute to that particular aircraft and the lives lost .... BUT .... which is somethihg that "really bothers me" .... becuse such representation seems, to me, to be akin to being the result of morbid fascination which, I feel, is disrespectful .... insensitive or in bad taste to say the very least !!!! I need to say that my above view is purely "MINE ONLY" .... it is not necessarily representaive of HJG´s views/peferences. AGAIN .... "if" we don´t already represent that particular NORTHWEST/REPUBLIC based livery for an MD82 .... and .... "if" that livery can be represented with a diffrent aircraft registration .... and "IF" you´re actually willing do that accordingly .... THEN .... feeling more comfortable about this I´d be "INTERESTED" in possibly accepting it .... and in which case I´d ask you to PM me concerning your offer Mark C BOG/CO

I would like to thank "NORTHWEST787" for his co-operation with my above proposition in regard to this NOTRTHWEST AIRLINES/REPUBLIC AIRLINES MD-82 texture. Due to this .... and the fact he´s made "such a darned nice job of it" too .... we´ll be adding this particular subject to the HJG flightline in due course. The HJG release version of this particular aircraft subject may be previewed per the following forum link .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/8406/couple-community-contributions"THANKS" once again Willin Mark C HJG

Such tribute repaints may help raise public awareness of aviation safety issues and help not the least the bereaved to cope better with something otherwise described as "bad luck" or "ill fate". Of course, such interest in disaster may indeed be intruding and insensitive and purely gaping. However, I find repaints a more subtilizing variant of interest. That's just my opinion and I respect yours. Nice repaint, by the way! Best regards, Christian

Mark: Northwest 255 was a late evening flight whose routing was Detroit - Phoenix - Orange County. I flew from Phoenix to Orange County on that flight more times than I can remember. That flight crashed Sunday night. I flew it the next night on Monday. I think what bothered me the most was the news media getting in face of people at the gate asking about the events of the previous evening. I knew a lot of the those crews. It was an extremely rough for the crew the next day. I happen to agree that it is a morbid curiosity. I mean no disrespect to Christian, but as former crew who lost colleagues, I do not agree with his belief. Sorry

Hi all,
Out of respect, I changed the livery a slight bit to reflect sister craft N302RC. A preview can be seen in the thread that Aerofoto linked above.
