Hello I was wondering. Do these aircraft work with the steam edition of flight simulator? I was wondering since I went through a lot of stress trying to install it using the methods provided and nothing happened. If anyone could confirm if this is working and give me some tips to help with installing. Thanks

It would be helpful to know pecisely what you´re trying to install "ALL" HJG models are "FS2004 native" .... BUT .... each of these (with the exception of our ARJ/BAe, CONCORDE, and CARVELLE models) are also "FSX PORTABLE". "So far as I´m aware" .... FSX STEAM EDITION should not impose any difficultries in respct of those HJG simulations which are FSX portable too. By default .... all HJG simulations/aircraft base packs download with their AIRCRAFT.CFG, PANEL.CFG, and SOUND.CFG data set up and ready for immediate "FS2004 USE" use .... whereas in most cases these files need to be edited for FSX use, or, their supplied "FSX VERSION" CFG files activated in order to be recognised and displayed by FSX. FS2004 installation procedures are quite straight-forward and relative few issues result .... except where folk fail to follow the prescribed installation instructions. FSX installation procedures are .... admittedly .... "more complex" .... not just in the case of HJG supplied simulations (because our recommended FSX specific installation procedures .... all 3 options prescribed on this SUPPORT page .... "DO" conform to established FSX specific installastion protocols), but, in the case of most 3rd party add-ons generally also .... 1 slip-up/misunderstanding of the prescribed procedures/protocols will be sufficient to cause these/any simulation (not just HJG supplied files) to not be recognised and displayed by FSX. AGAIN .... all HJG simultions (barring those stipulted above) are "FSX PORTABLE" .... as are most of our panels too (except those for the ARJ/BAe, B717-200, CONCORDE, CARAVBELLE, DC-10, and MD-80/90) .... along with each of our "FSX" specific/labelled soundpacks as well. So long as every individual step of the precribed installation procedures are followed .... "to the very letter" .... then .... no issues should ever result. I'm "not" FSX myself .... BUT .... can provide the following "limited" advice .... Check that the default Panel and Sound folders, within your aircraft base pack/s ,are correctly aliased to the defult FSX specific Panel and Sound assignments .... and which, for FSX, must be edited to read as follows .... [fltsim] alias=B737_800\panel [fltsim] alias=B737_800\sound If you´re using any HJG panels that are FSX portable then ensure its FSX specific PANEL.CFG is activated in prefrence to the default FS2004 supplied version which acompanies it. Also .... check that you´ve activated the "FSX" specific AIRCRAFT.CFG file too .... though some HJG simulations do not require this .... hence it´s necessary for us to know "precisely what you´re trying to install" Mark C BOG/CO

Sorry I was not very specific I was trying to install the DC-10. Would I have to use the default fsx panels and sounds?

For the third time in as many weeks, I'm installing a fresh copy of FSX Steam (an installation to the wrong drive and a corrupted installation of an ORBX scenery later), so after I have had a chance to play around with it for a while, I will be happy to answer any FSX Steam Edition questions.
Cheers,
Nathan.

FSX Native MD-90 with vc
I know I'm a new member, so I don't exactly know who to contact about this or where to post this, but I've always wanted to be able to fly the HJG MD-90 with a VC, since the model always got solid Frame Rates in dense scenery and traffic settings. After spending quite some time learning modeling and converting animations, I have successfully converted the HJG MD-90 model from FS9 native format to FSX Native Format with as all animations functional. In addition, I have enabled it to work with the Alrot FSND MD-83 VC as MD-80 and MD-90 cockpits are nearly identical. I would like to know who to contact to obtain permission to upload this FSX Native MD-90.

I will be happy to answer any FSX Steam Edition questions. royal1688OK, here goes. Why does it crash with the same regularity as the original FSX?

I have FSX Steam edition, and I am not experiencing any problems. Your CTD m8ust be caused by something other than FSX or FSX Steam, perhaps having to do with your Operating System. My system is the now ancient Vista.

I too am using Vista OS, and have no problems with FSX Steam. If fact it runs better on my machine than the boxed version of FSX. Have many HJG aircraft in the hanger and they all work flawlessly!

9 times out of 10 times .... when FS crashes it's due to something one's got installed, or the way one's OS/configuration inter-relates with the program.
Maybe FSX .... in any version .... is just to heavy for your system to handle. I don't say this is the case .... but rather .... simply "suggest" (only) it's a possibility .... and likely more-so too given you imply you experienced your problem with the original program too.
Any program .... or installation .... can react differently on different systems .... and when such problems occur it's not necessarily the program, or installation, that's at fault.
These sorts of issues can be extremely difficult (next to impossible) to pin-point or resolve due to an enormous number of variables that might apply.
Although this doesn't appear to be the foundation for your query .... all of HJG simulations (with the exception of the BAe 146/ARJ and its panel, the CONCORDE and it's panel, the DC-10 panels only, and the DC-9 panels only) are "FSX PORTABLE".
No issues are known to exist in regard to any other HJG simulations and FSX portability.

Hey tbolt, If you had the boxed standard FSX installed, make sure you do a clean and complete uninstall before attempting to operate steam. There are instructions on flightsim that gives you exact directions how to do that. Just google it. Falcon
