Hello to all. Thanks to the people who build and paint the awesome aircraft on this site. Will someone repaint the Boeing 720 in Boeing's house colors like in the photo linked to below? Sorry that this picture is a black and white but I could not find a color picture of the plane in house colors. This is the same standard white fuselage, silver underside, with red stripe and red writing that Boeing used for their house colors on the 720, 707, 727, and 737 when those aircraft were first rolled out. I saw a film of this aircraft flying on a show about the Caravelle and it looked awesome in house colors. www.aeroplaneart.com.au/Images/JB_Boeing_720.jpg

Actually, the fuselage is wearing basic United Airlines colors of the time, with a blue stripe over a white top and a thin gold stripe between the white and polished metal. It even featured the Untied tricolor on the flaps, although it lacked the United titles on the wings. The main stripe on the tail is blue to match the fuselage stripe, with red stripes above and below. The titles are basic Boeing font and the registration would be N7201U. Coincidentally, Nov 23 will be the 47th Anniversary of the first flight of the prototype 720.
Of possible interest is the massive floating log jam seen in Lake Washington in the background. Just some small evidence of the rather massive timber operations that used to dominate the area now taken up by Coulon Park.

JEEZE .... Can we get a "BOEING prototype liveried" B720 out by "NOVEMBER 23RD" .... as a tribute to the aircraft and celebration of the anniversary ?
Actually .... if I'd consciously realised this I might have been tempted to do a special B720 article to coincide with the occasion.
Oh well !

I just had a thought, well, actually, more like an a-ha moment. Long long ago I started to repaint the 720 Prototype and now I remember why I never finished it. The model needs to have the short tail and no ventral fin. Both N7201U and N7202U (in full United colors) rolled out and performed test flights with the short tail and no ventral fin, however they were both converted prior to delivery with the taller tail and fin added.
