Has anybody done this for the 727? I'm using the -100 panel that doesn't have INS installed. My gauge installing skills are basically zero. So if anybody has a ready made cfg, I'd be VERY appreciative!!

If I remember correctly there is a sample panel or two with the download including a .cfg and how to locate the gauges within the panel. You could copy those over to your three holer with the appropriate alterations to the gauge and/or panel numbering.

I tried the sample panel without any success. Different panel in the sample is the problem. "appropriate alterations". If I had a degree in rocket science, I'd try it. Well, I've been trying for several years (10+?) how to figure out Civa's introductions without much success. Panel alterations are a bit deep for me. Easier to understand the mid of a women then that.

Hey Ozflyer,
Am reluctant to post edited versions of other people's work, in this case Richard Probst and George Carty's HJG B727-100 LATE P&W JT8D-9 FS2004 PANEL V2 panel.cfg. That said, adding the CIVA INS to a B-727-100 panel is not at all difficult if you can use MS Wordpad or Notepad.
Custom edits to panels in FS9 is relatively straightforward and I have added INS to the First Air B727-100C since navigating using VOR or NBD just does to work in Canada's arctic and will walk you through the process. It takes longer to explain than to do...
If you have followed standard procedure for HJG panel installations, all or most of your panel folders should be located in the FSDSConv folder found in the main Aircraft folder. I have the B727-100 panels here and the panel.cfg files in the relevant aircraft panel folders are aliased to the appropriate FSDSConv panel folder. What follows presumes that only one B727-100 variant will be CIVA equipped with any others left stock. The important take-away is editing the panel.cfg regardless of where it might reside. Your folders may be named differently and it's incumbent on you to find the correct aircraft and panel folders in your FS9 installation.
Make sure that all bitmap files and the stock panel.cfg are copied and paste into the desired ...\Aircraft\HJG B727 Late v1.2\Panel folder, overwriting the stock panel.cfg as necessary.
1. Open the panel.cfg using Wordpad.
2. Scroll down to [Window02].
3. Add the following line below the last gauge, it should be Gauge04 but must be one-number higher than the gauge entry above it. This adds the CIVA-INS to the weather radar window:
gauge04=Rp727_2!ins, 454, 0, 241
4. Scroll down to [Fixed Window37]
5. Add the following line below the last gauge, it should be Gauge02. This adds the master control unit to the overhead panel:
gauge02=rp727_2!msu, 549, 615, 191, 72
6. Save and close.
7. Go fly, you should see the INS in the radar window and the control unit in the overhead.
Good Luck, hope that this helps.
Chris

Is that for the Civa INS or the HJG INS? Either way none of them show. Looking at some other aircraft that I have with the CIVA installed, it has some extra lines in the cfg. Not sure if that is needed here as well?

OK, my error as the above will install the HJG INS that ships with the panel and not the CIVA. I have the CIVA in other panels and had not noticed any significant difference in functionality and mistakenly lumped them all under the CIVA brand. Anyway sorry that this didn't work for you.

I eventually got the Civa working in some of the panels I'm using. Works great.

Been away for the past 5 days and just got back into Bogota this evening .... Not trying to shootdown "OZFLYERS" original request .... or those whom have kindly volunteered advice to him either .... since whatever people to to there panels is entirely up to them of course BUT .... just for the record I do need to state/restate HJG´s support position in regard to this and other such similar conversion matters .... Because we/HJG don´t provide the CIVA INS we don´t/can´t provide support for it .... therefore anyone opting to use it/the CIVA INS with any HJG simulation is (unfortuately) "on their own" Incidentally the reason why we never applied our own INS (which works similarly if not identically anyway .... someone once regarded ours as being superior to th CIVA version) to any of our own B/27-100 panels is becaue few, if any, B727-100´s "of the period we represent" were ever quipped with it. A few B727-100´were modified far later on in theit service careers with GPS .... and other fancy/modern bits´n´pieces .... to aid navigation. Mark C BOG/CO

Yeah I actually never installed in in the -100. I left it as is and I've been navigating VOR only which is quite good fun. Hard work, but rewarding. I've only put it on a couple of -200 panels so far in lieu of the HJG INS which I'm sure works great. I'm familiar though with the Civa INS and know its little quirks. Plus I've put a triple unit in a 707 which is handy.

Dunno if you´ll find this helpful .... Here´s a link to Dan´s INS tutirial (meaning that by our own INS by our own "extremely capable and completely indispensible" George CARTY) which many have found extemly useful .... INS TUTORIALtonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/3449/insGive it a go .... if you care to Althugh I´ve "not ever" used INS NAV .... as I mentioned above some have come back to us (in the past) stating they feel what we offer is apparently superior to the CIVA system.
