Hi everyone I hope you are all well? I was just wondering if anyone would consider doing the kiwi travel international airlines Boeing 727-200? The now defunct airline was one of the first, if not the first LCC carriers to operate between New Zealand and Australia and one that I would truly love to see at HJG. I understand how busy everyone is at this time of the year, but if someone could spare some time it would be fantastic. 3rdlevelnz.blogspot.com/2020/02/kiwi-international-airlines-airline-of.htmlCheers everyone, Nathan

I´m glad this one came up .... because among the B727-200´s from "downunder" (the souther hemisphere) it´s currently the missing member.
I need to stress though that the New Zealand base KIWI TRAVEL INTRNATIONAL AIRLINES B727-200 subject (they only ever operated 1 such aircraft and for less than a year) posed by Nathan .... and the US based KIWI INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES aircraft subjects posed by "CGOLD" .... are both "entirely different/unrelated" operators despite the apparent conicidence of their names.
KIWI TAVEL INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES .... became New Zealands first ever budget/discount/no frills international airline.
Services commenced during July 1994 as weekly charters bwtween Hamilton and Brisbane/Australia .... and to both Nuku¨Álofa/Tonga, and Apia/Western Samoa from from December 1994 .... using an AIR NAURU B737-400 .... and from April 1995 the airline extended its routin to include Hamilton to Cairns, Rockhampton, and Townsville/Australia services.
From August 23rd 1995 the airline commenced scheduled services bewteen Hamilton and Dunedin/New Zealand and Sydney/Australia (although the airlines Hamilton/Sydney services were forced to transit via Auckland .... and its Dunedin/Sydney services forced to transit via Christchurch .... due to fuel/weight restrictions in accorance wiht the runway length and both of these New Zealand provincial centers) .... using and ex-EASTERN AIR LINES B727-200 ADV leased from AV ATLANTIC.
During early 1996 the airlines B727-200 ADV was replaced with a B757-200 leased from AIR 2000 (and the airline rebranded as KIWI INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES) .... and which was replaced with a leased B737-300 and also supplemented with a leased A320-200 later during 1996.
During late 1996 AIR NEW ZEALAND (whom had never shown any previous motivation to operate international services to, and from, New Zealand provincial centers .... until what it deemed was the intrusion of KIWI INTRNATIONAL AIRLINES into its market) established a similar budget/discount/no frills international under the FREEDOM AIR INTERNATIONAL banner .... and which operated under the paper-thin disguise of its MOUNT COOK AIRLINES subsidiary .... and began sevicing the same routes as KIWI INTENATIONAL AIRLINES, on the very same days, and according to almost identical schedules too.
Competition between these operators became "intense" .... but .... the KIWI INTERNATIONl operation could not prevail against the might of AIR NEW ZEALAND .... and was eventually fored into liquidation on September 9th 1996 and after a period of financial difficulties.
FREEDOM AIR INTERNATIONAL .... which was essentially Ar NEW ZEALAND´tool to surgically remove KIWI INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES from the New Zealasnd market .... was voluntarily woud-up during March 2008.
The US based KIWI INTERANATIONAL AIRLINES is something else entirely different again.

Thanks for all of the information Mark, it is also interesting that shortly after Kiwi closed, Air New Zealand absorbed Freedom

FREEDOM AIR INTERNATIONAL was always "AIR NEW ZEALAND" .... in a disguised and budget/no frills international form.
It was set up under the banner of MOUNT COOK AIRLINES .... which is an affiliate and subsidiary of AIR NEW ZEALAND .... and it was (essentially) set up to surgically remomve KIWI INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES from the New Zealand market. It successfully did what it was set up to do .... and it was them voluntarily wound-up within a couple of years of KIWI´s demise.

Yessir! I only have 1-2 -135s left on my list at the moment, so once those are done I'll start getting back to the 72s and 73s I've been neglecting for a while

Sorry Erik, I’m not trying to push you into anything as I can see just how busy you have been. Thank you for all the amazing work you have been doing with the C-135 derivatives at the moment, they are just beautiful. Thank you also for considering this rare little bird.
Cheers so much, Nathan
