Hi there,
I am having trouble taxiing the DC8-30. I cannot get the rudder to centre, and so I am constantly drifting to the right. If I try to centre it, it will just revert to where it was. This also makes takeoff very difficult.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Which base pack are you using? 31, 32, 33, or 33F?? Each has different weights and MOI's which can affect handling characteristics? We can't check until we know exactly which base pack is being used. Also, what control are you using: yoke, joystick, rudder pedals?? Have they been calibrated recently? Also check your fuel loading to make sure there is no large imbalance.

I am using the DC8-32.
I don’t think it is a calibration problem, because I don’t have this problem with any other aircraft.

Sorry for the double post, don’t know why that happened.

UMMM ... the DC-8 FDE's were all last updated early last year.
As part of far more reecent texture testing .... plus other testinjg too .... I've experienced o such problems with any of the DC-8's at all.
The only things that could cause "RWY drift" (if I'm understanding you correctly) are ....
1. A calibration problem associated with your controller device ... .check it's properly calibrated within FS and WINDOWS.
2. A fuel imbalance situation .... check how you actually loading/assigning fuel quantity for your flights.
3. A severe crosswind component.
4. Are you loading your DC-8 into FS by first loading a default MSFS aircraft (this shouldn't be essential but it "IS" recommended in order to ensure the default flight parameters are loaded with any add-on aircraft) .... or .... are you selecting you Dc-8 from the MSFS aircraft selection menu as soon as FS is fired up ?
I can't imagine any other possible contributory factors .... through not ever having encountered any issues myself.

I have had this aircraft installed for quite a while, so I may not have the most recent FDE.

That's the first lace to start .... make sure you have the current "V5.4" base pack FDE's installed "for all of your DC-8's" .... although having said that I've never seen (so far as my usually god memory allows me to recall) any such issue/s being reported, or even needing to be addressed, among any of the former version DC-8 FDE's/base packs either.
Benoit's video's (promoting our new DC-8 soundpacks .... and among which all of our DC-8 versions are represented) don't reveal any such issue's either.
You query caught my attention "at just the right/a convenient moment" today .... SO .... upon reading, and replying to, it I curiously took my own DC-8-32 out for a quick spin .... BUT .... no problem/ at all, was revealed to me .... in fact she went arrow straight down the RWY save for the minor croswind component that I'd generated as part of my default weather scenario ... .and which resulted in no more than a tires width of drift from the RWY centerline between powering-up, accelerating for T/O, and rotation. The same was also true in regard to my landing .... "no RWY drift at all" .... save for how I actually landed the beast and which wasn't quite straight, but, which was subtly corrected during roll-out after landing.
Check your calibration anyway .... and check you've not got a fuel or payload imbalance subject to any adjustments there.

Fixed it! After installing the latest FDE, I am no longer having taxi problems. Thanks for your help.
