These 2 new MERCURE (P&W JT8D-15) soundpacks (separate FS2004 and FSX versions "contained within each FS specific MERCURE base pack) are like "the icing on the cake" for this new HJG offered simulation .... by Mario NORIEGA. Thanks for your superb and much appreciated efforts with these Benoit Love the external "crackle" evident within this FSX version soundpack version .... which is as characteristic of the JT8D-15 (and earlier series too) as its very distinctive "whine" Mark C AKL/NZ

Nice video of this very rare French 'smoker'. Is it just me or does the Mercure look like a 'forefather' of the Airbus A320?

"PHYSICALLY" .... I'd say "NO" .... but .... beauty (and appreciation if no interpretation ) are also often in the eye of the beholder.
HOWEVER .... I think it's probably fair to say the A320 is something that ultimately evolved from the MERCURE "concept" .... but .... was likely just a "twinkle in the eye" of those French/European designers back during the late 1960's/early 1970's (when the MERCURE was still evolving) .... and whom probably became part of the knowledge base that eventually evolved into what we today call "AIRBUS INDUSTRIE".
The MERCURE was a superb .... and very advanced .... aircraft for its time/the late 1960's/early 1970's era of technology it represented.
It's failure though was largely due to it's payload/range limitations versus those of both the B737-100/-200, B727-100, and DC-9-10/-20/-30 (and this's where DASSAULT really missed the plot) .... otherwise it could have been a very popular aircraft among European operators.
A larger and longer ranging version of the original MERCURE was planned, but, got canned before it could enter production .... probably on account of the lack of appeal of the original MERCURE and reluctance, by then, of both DASSAULT and the French government to risk investing more money into the project/an uncertainty.

Very nice video and engine sounds of the Mercure.
Just curious....does ATC not function when making videos or is it omitted intentionaly?? Never seem to hear any ATC messages in any videos.

Important we acknowledge Mario NORIEGA for this AMD MERCURE 100 simulation. It "his project" .... compiled by him .... although we/HJG assisted him with a few small details. We/HJG only host this simulation by Mario's consent .... so please .... always refer to it as a "NORIEGA DESIGNS" product rather than an HJG one. A very small detail (perhaps) .... but ... a very important one too (I feel) .... since I like to ensure the right people get the right accreditation Mark C AKL/NZ
