Gentlemen, I soon approach my 50th birthday. I still fly, but rarely online these days. I have however, been reminiscing about my younger days, and the happy times I spent working for Capitol Air in the early 80's. I would be very very grateful if someone could make my 50th complete by providing a repaint of my memories : or Many thanks for your time and indulgence Steve Marks Cornwall, England

It's interesting these CAPITOL INTERNATIONAL DC8-63 liveries should suddenly pop-up .... because it was ony yesterday I spotted a 3 aircraft DC8-63 AI package of CAPITOL liveries on AVSIM. I thought at the time, and have actually been thinking for a while before seeing this particular AI package, that these other 2 CAPITOL liveries would be ideal candidates for the HJG inventory .... and I think 1 or other of these 2 liveries were also applied to both DC8-50 & 62 as well.
I'll have a chat to the guys .... and see if any of these appeal to them.
If they do take these subjects on it might not happen immediately though.

Well I just hit 50 so I know how you feel I was looking at the DC8 as I had not done any for a while I will see if I can research some detail of the livery from ptid657 and see what I can come up with!

We're just accumulating references now for these white fuselage CAPITOL liveries.
As I see it there's about different 2 variations possible for the DC8-63, and 1 each for both DC8-50 & -62.
I don't know if their DC8-61's ever supported the white fuselage variations, but, we'll see what we can come up with.
FYI .... we do already host the following CAPITOL DC8 repaints/textures featuring the older blue and red livery ....
DC8-54JT 1964 N4904C.... see DOWNLOADS/DC8-50Fsection
DC8-61CF 1968 N801U.... see DOWNLOADS/DC8-61Fsection
DC8-63CF 1968 N4908C.... see DOWNLOADS/DC8-63Fsection
Make sure you download each of the DC8 "F" Aircraft Base Packs for each oif the above aircraft types .... if you've not already done so that is.
Apply these the individual aircraft textures to these respective Base Packs.

All downloaded and ready to go, Mark! As far as I remember, there was ONE -61 in the stars and stripes, not sure, but I think it was N8765.
914CL and 915CL were white, but didn't have the stars and stripes logo as far as I recall.
... darn was it really 24 years ago.............

AH .... excellent ! Benoit to the rescue once again Does anyone know (can anyone provide photographic evidence) that any of CAPITOL's DC8-51's appeared in the white fuselage version but with large "CAPITOL" titles on the forward lower fuselage ? I know the -61's & 63's did .... but .... I can't seem to find anything to support this livery version ever appearing on any of their DC8-50's. Mark C AKL/NZ

As far as I'm aware the Stars and stripes FULL livery was only sported by N8765, the -63's and the dc10-10's.
It's 20 plus years ago now, but I seem to remember that the full livery was only applied to the scheduled service aircraft (as above) operating JFK-BRU, FRA, SJU and LAX. The 50's were doing mainly charter work.

YEAH .... that pretty much what I'm finding too .... large fuselage titles for the -61 & -63 over a white fuselage .... as well as small fuselage titles for the -51, -61, -62, & -63 over a white fuselage. A also turned up a couple of other surprises too I don't know which one's our guys plan to attack first. There's a number of variations. To get through all of them .... assuming we do that .... could take a wee while to complete. Leave it with the experts anyway ! Mark C AKL/NZ

I'm happy to do so, Mark! I tried painting an aircraft once and ended up with a 200 foot high tail......... I'm not artistic, nor do I have the patience! LOL
