I got the DC8 to work properly, still working on the others. Problem is that when taxiing there is always a cloud of dust behind the wheels, like I'm taxiing on dirt. Ideas?

Never heard of such .... and it's certainly not any part of any Effects offered by HJG (for the DC-8's or any of its other simulations) .... and as any of the DC-8 videos (those made by Benoit PLAMONDON are all FSX based) will verify. In fact the only dust-like Effect/s associated with landing gear and these, as well as all other HJG supplied simulations, is the standard FS Touch Down tire smoke Effects. The only reason/s (I can think of) that might cause anything like what you're reporting are .... "if" one has an add-on Effects file (like water or snow Effects) installed which may impose a global effect on all FS or add-on aircraft, or unless one's "possibly" modified their Contact Points (not suggesting you have ) for these simulations, or it "may" possibly be the result of an Effect file associated with scenery you're using these simulations with. Really need more information .... and with reference to both default and add-on scenery observations (possibly supported by images too) .... and with reference to precisely what add-on sceneries also in the case of this latter. Never ever saw this, what you describe, as being dust (dirt) effect, unless I was taxing on dirt or gravel. Are you confusing this perhaps with the effects you get when taxing on a wet surface? Herman

FSX, just installed. Fresh DC8-63 download. No outside effects installed. Seattle and MSP, weather clear. I downloaded a DC7 from CalClassic and it does the same thing while taxiing on pavement.

As I suggested originally .... and which appears to be supported (to some extent) by information within the links I've provided above .... it "seems" to be an FSX related issue, and "if" this information correct (and coming from the like of FS DEVELOPER representatives such is bound to be the case .... as those guys aren't fools), then, it's an effect that "seems" to be associated more with some (particularly far northern and southern latitude) airports, and also in relation to the simulating of colder seasonal environments associated with these localities too. Note that what you're reporting isn't evident in any of Benoit's DC-8 videos (linked above also) though .... but then again .... I don't know what airports he's selected, in FSX, or if these are default or add-on scenery either, but, these videos "are" all made using FSX .... and her uses nothing else. All I can say is .... what you're reporting isn't an HJG effect and nor is it an HJG imposed one either. Try varying your simulated time of year/seasonal environments .... and also .... try varying you scenery locations to between high northern, central, and southern latitudes .... and once again in conjunction with extreme summer and winter seasons as well. What would also be equally, if not more, helpful (and despite the fact there's likely nothing we can do let alone further advise) is if you were to provide "images" .... so what you're experiencing can then "actually be seen" by us rather than our simply trying to assume/imagine what you might be seeing Mark C AKL/NZ

Ah ha! The "tire dust" was actually snow. I was doing the flying on today's date, which is winter, and so it "assumed" there was snow and created the snow effect. Switch to any other season, no dust! I mean, no snow!

"PRECISELY" as I mentioned/tried to mention within 2 of my 3 postings above .... and as is also supported per the FS DEVELOPER and other links I provided too ANYWAY .... glad you've obviously got it sorted/have been able to make some sense of what you experienced and reported All's well that ends well Mark C AKL/NZ
