No joy here yet. I'll report back when there's news. I don't think it's about any HJG files (AC or textures) but rather at my end with FS9. (Recall, FS9 wants to load the Condor DC-10-30 texture EVEN WHEN I strip that texture out of the CFG file, so something strange is going on.
Thanks for your help, though - more than I had expected.

See what you can achieve Dan. We appreciate the way you're apparent "sticking at it" .... unlike those whom just chuck the towel in and then stamp off snorting disgust and abuse. Keep us informed .... please. Because your experience (whatever's determined to be the cause of it .... if it can be resolved) ultimately helps the next person too .... not to mention the fact that we all learn from it to Just a thought .... and I'm probably not phrasing this query correctly .... BUT .... does anyone know if the like of CFG files, in FS, and for FS9 in particular when used within a WIN 10 environment, are controlled to any extent by OS imposed administration functions ? Hi Mark, no not for FS9. You do have to change the permissions settings for P3dv4 and some XP11 files, but I have never had to do it for the aircraft.cfg in FS9 😉👍🏻

One possible problem I'll explore. If I download the AC zip file to my FS9 AC folder (I know I shouldn't, and I usually don't), and then try to unzip it into that folder, I get an error message that it can't create the folder. Not a problem if I'm working in the "over-folder" of C:\programs 386. So that may be a permissions problem.
But, I can download & unzip to my separate D drive (the hard drive, not the solid state drive) and then drag the AC folders into FS9/AC no problem. And SOME textures do work, doing it that way. But I can't unzip directly into the FS9/AC folder.
I'll keep trying....

Is this still in relation to the EAL SHUTTLE PLUS texture Dan ? Best/Recommended procedure is to UNZIP file contents to DESKTOP or another TEMPORARY FOLDER (not the actual FS destination folders) .... then .... "manually extract just the required components" from there and then "drag & drop these to the appropriate FS destination folder/s" .... and finally edit your CFG/FLTSIM.XX data accordingly. On some systems what can happen is .... when UNZIPPING files the usual containing folder will be created (of course) .... but the process will also created "a 2nd containing folder" and containing the actual required/valid folder component. This's despite the fact that all HJG supplied files are contained within a single containing folder only. We've seen evidence of this here previously .... and I've also noted it commented elsewhere too. I'm sure (from your feed back so far) you know enough to avoid being caught like this, but, others have, so, it mighty be a good idea to check this. Check the that folders you believe are the correct/actual Texture folders that enter your aircraft base pack all read "texture (dot) and then the name of the texture subject" .... just as per the following example relating to the EAL SHUTTLE PLUS subject .... texture.eastern_air_lines_shuttle_plus_1986_25_n8142nIf what you have installed does read like that, then, this (what I've stated above) could be the cause of your particular problem. This's where "an image" showing us the content of your base pack/s would be "helpful" .... because such an error would stick out like dogs balls and we'd spot it immediately Every texture folder should contain nothing more than the required Texture BMP files for each texture subject .... and which should not be contained within yet another containing folder. If you've inadvertently got a valid Texture folder contained within another containing folder .... THEN .... that'll prevent FS from recognizing and being able display that particular texture subject within its AIRCRAFT SELECTION MENU .... regardless of whatever FLTSIM.XX data editing you apply. Please check this Mark

Nathan - thanks for the link.
Mark, I'll double-check, but the AC folder DOES show the various "texture." files. You're right that it's sometime confusing to see the name of the texture in a folder, then a subfolder, etc. after unzipping. But I'm used to dealing with that, and just drag the actual texture file. I don't take the other notepad instructional files over, just copy the "add to" text from that txt file and paste it into the CFG and renumber the FLTSIM.xx. All worked like a charm with my Win7 setup, B727-100, B727-200, DC-9 (various models). But I'll triple check it all.
(If I grab a screen shot of the AC folder, how do I paste that into a message here?)
Really, you guys are going way beyond the call. I really think it's at my end. And, even if I can't get the textures to load, I do have the various AC with at least SOME textures, so I can fly them. And the DC-10 panel is keeping me VERY busy!
Thanks once again.

Hi Friends:
In WIN7 and WIN10 one can have stunning effects as here described if in different airplanes in its aircraft.cfg files one uses the same titel. The problem could originate from another aircrafts cfg file.
Kind regards
Walter

Unlike is apparently the case with some other FS groups and services .... that's what we like to try'n do here Dan and thanks for acknowledging that fact The "Tech Team" within this group like nothing more than to be able to assist other peoples enjoyment of what "this group" produces .... so .... we do place a very high emphasis on "product support". Good product support is dependent on the end user assisting us though and "by telling us precisely they've done" (and you've been doing that to some extent) .... since our philosophy here is no question is ever a dumb question in the face of peoples genuine need to want to know something or require a solution to any particular issue encountered. For this reason and either sooner or later .... 95% of all issues are satisfactorily explained or otherwise successfully resolved here We "DO" bite too .... of course .... but .... only where/when that becomes absolutely necessary What we appreciate in your particular case though Dan is how you're assisting us by "being prepared to stick at it" .... rather than just chucking in the towel, stamping ones foot in disgust, and then snorting off under a cloud of profane descriptive adjectives that are usually aimed at us and the very foundation of all we try to do here .... as has been the case in one or two past instances. For whatever happens there's always "A REASON" .... only sometimes we all need to dig a little deeper in order to discover "that particular reason" .... because at the end of the day whatever's posted here ultimately aids someone else with a similar issue, or rather, it aids more people than whom might ask any question in the first instance. It might take a while to resolve this .... but .... we usually always do eventually Mark C AKL/NZ

The problem could originate from another aircrafts cfg file. Kind regards Walter Yikes - I have a lot of other AC, but not many HJG add-ons. But I'll take a look through other aircraft.cfg files, but none of them are B727s, DC9s or DC10s. (I have an HJG 707 that I've not flown much - maybe I'll check that too and just delete to see if that helps.

Sorry Dan .... I forgot to reply in regard to a couple of your comments and queries .... You'll need to set up an image hosting account somewhere (preferably at a free service if you don't already have such) .... then upload your screen shot/capture to that account/service .... and then link URL for that/any image back here/to your posting. Because the HJG forum is a "free" license service offered by PROBARDS and for security reasons also .... nobody can now upload any attachments within anything posted here since the "free forum service license" in regard to attachments has a finite total capacity/limit only and there have been other problems, in the past, with regard some uploaded attachments, so, we knocked it on the head once'n'for all by banning all/any attachments whatsoever Just in case you're for any reason unaware .... to aid everyone's understanding of the DC-10 panel/s we host I wrote the following linked manual for these .... DC10 Panel Installation & Handling Notes tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/9147/dc10-panel-installation-handling-notesFrom a "technical POV these are some of the very best panels we offer (George did a superb job programming these) .... and they're both FS2004 native as well as being FSX portable too and with no known issues. OK, here's a quick update. I've continued to search the various HJG forum threads, and after a lot of double-checking, I finally discovered the problem.
In a nutshell (emphasis on NUT), I'm an idiot (some would say that's not really news). It took me a long time comparing SIM=, Title=, and all that, until I checked the Model=. Therein lay the problem. Fixed that in every texture and, so far, all my 727-100s and 727-200s have been showing up just fine. FS9 is a little weird in Win10, but it's working. I'm sticking with it for HJG, and using FSX for different AC.
Now that I've been able to prove that: 1) you shouldn't start by blaming MS (but ...), and 2) you should read all the how-to's, I'm now ready to try to match the actual airline textures with the true base models for those airlines, for more realism. Then panels...
Inertial navigation is my next challenge - but that's for another day.
Mark - thank you and everyone else who pitched in before. Live and learn (I hope).
Dan

You should be "congratulated for your perseverance" .... because on any number occasions over the past 20 years we've seen people, whom encounter difficulties, just stamp their foot in a huff, abuse us, and then disappear without so much as attempting to analyse what they're doing wrong, or, reading our manuals, service notes, and other support items which "do" warn of certain traps .... and how to avoid or otherwise easily resolve these. I glad you've obviously "got there" (the journey can often be as beneficial than the destination .... once awareness and knowledge take control ) and are able to advise us of your success .... simply because, and once again, for all the hours we often apply to trying to assist people with their issues .... few get back to us to advise in regard to their progress .... and even fewer bother to say "THANKS". Just a word of additional advice for you re our B727's .... Only our "B727-200 TEXTURES" are implicated in the need to be assigned to the correct aircraft base pack, model, panel files (and which is what the listings for these are all about resolving) .... and only those "B727-200 TEXTURES" released "prior to" October 2015 are so implicated .... since the rest (all "B727-200 TEXTURES" released "since" October 2015 already have, or should already have (if they've been packaged by me) the corrected model assignments stated within their supporting ADD TO AIRCRAFT/FLTSIM.XX data .... with additional information stating which aircraft base packs, panels, and sounds should be used with each subject. At this time "NONE" of our B727-200's are similarly implicated .... as yet .... although there's still a need to use these with the correct/intended aircraft base packs, but, which also applied to everything else we offer too Get back to us if you need any further help .... and once again "congratulations for your perseverance" since I/we respect that in people Mark C AKL/NZ

Mark, thanks for your gracious reply. :-) BTW, another thing I did was move my entire FS9 folder from the default "programs" folder that FS wants to use to a root folder in my C: drive. (I also fixed some registers using a register fix mini-app that someone at FlightSim pointed me to). I didn't have to backup/restore or anything - just dragged the entire FS9 folder into the new "Flight Simulator 9" folder that I created. All my add-on AC went along just fine. That seems to have fixed my problems with textures in my HJG DC-10s. Do NOT ask me why that is, but I think it's a part of the "Win10 doesn't want to play with FS9" problem. I left my FSX where it installed by default. Lord help me when Win11 comes along and refuses to run FS9 at all. Then what will we do?
