Like those TCB! Always wanted to work as a pilot for those doggy freight airlines of the 2000s Brazil, but they folded, as my pilot career that didnĀ“t last long.

I've a personal connection with the TCB DC-8F-52 PP-TCB .... ex AIR NEW ZEALAND DC-8-52 ZK-NZC .... I flew on this particular aircraft "twice" .... once during January 1974 between MEL and AKL (was invited up the flight deck on this service) .... then again during May 1975 between RAR and AKL. Even for an originally AIR NZ DC-8 she had "quite a history" .... even earning the accolade of being "a DC-8 fit for the queen". Investigations and a campaign, under the "BRING OUR BIRDS HOME" banner, were launched by Paul BRENNAN (whom I've worked with/assisted in the past in regard to other aviation related productions) during March 2017 in order to try'n acquire this aircraft (along with 4 other ex-AIR NZ original airframes currently in storage or still in operation around the world today), and have it returned to New Zealand for preservation and display as the aircraft type which ushered AIR NEW ZEALAND into the "Pure Jet Age". BRING OUR BIRDS HOME CAMPAIGNwww.youtube.com/watch?v=q1aVhSiRTesDC-8-52 ZK-NZC (campaign launch)www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-mAgiQnNu4More recent campaign activity as of late 2019 .... BOBH FACE BOOKwww.facebook.com/bringourbirdshome/The campaign intentions remain intact (with MOU's signed between the campaign principle and current owners/custodians of these aircraft), but, the present global pandemic has put a temporary damper on the forward momentum of planning and recovery processes. In the meantime .... I do have the following FS texture for TCB DC-8F-52 PP-TCB and which is for the HJG DC-8-50F 3D model .... TCB DC-8F-52 PP-TPC "Daniel" (2002) I've not released it here (yet) because it's "not" by an HJG artist and does therefore requires a courtesy authorization in order to be hosted "HERE" .... despite the fact it's for "our model". We'll see what happens .... but .... "NO PROMISES/SIN PROMESAS/SEM PROMESSAS" Mark C AKL/NZ

I asume that one of its engines is at display at FUMEC University, where I graduated Aeronautics Sciencies Barchelor Degree, here in Belo Horizonte. We had an DC-8-50 engine and its Inlet, and by the time was studying there, I was almost sure it was removed from one TCB DC-8.

-TPC is minus an engine at the moment so that could well be the case.
It's also missing most of, if not all of, it's instrumentation too.
A story I heard (and whilst this's conceivable I don't know if it's entirely factual) .... is that TCB ended up owing a lot of money in fuel, engineering, and general airport/aviation related servicing fees, so, when the aircraft was grounded at Manaus measures were taken to ensure it couldn't be flown out again thus instrumentation, and later an engine too, were "removed". That certainly kept this aircraft where it was .... and where it has remained ever since.

If you review the above video links Darren .... AND .... also review the following-linked BOBH updates on this forum too .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/8454/bring-birds-home.... you'll see that each of the aircraft sought have been located and negotiations commenced accordingly. Despite the fact this campaign was launched 3 years ago it's early days yet .... and it may all still fail .... but in the event it all fails then that it certainly won't be through not having genuinely tried. The only aircraft sought that couldn't be located is the very last ex AIR NZ B747-219B .... simply because that aircraft, and its preceding sister-ships, were all scrapped a matter of weeks prior to the commencement of this campaign.
