For those whom like the "POCKET ROCKET/ B737200 CLASSIC" .... here's a great, interesting, and very well presented realworld video/documentary (made by my colleague Paul BRENAN/Media Force LTD) relating to an AIR NEW ZEALAND B737-200 flight within New Zealand during the late 1990's .... mostly narrated by the captain flying the aircraft. This video appears in 3 reasonably short but consecutive parts and as follows .... Part 1 www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWau2l15CEAPart 2 www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdbYXosWJ4sPart 3 www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDGrMI_iaeQENJOY .... and do compare these videos with that of the recommended FS panel video in my earlier posting (above) of today. Incidentally .... AIR NEW ZEALAND concluded B737-200 operations during the very early part of this new millennium and almost 40 years after these aircraft were first introduced to New Zealand skies with NZNAC during 1968. These "Pocket Rockets" (as we used to call them) have since been replaced with B737-300's and A320's on New Zealand main trunk domestic, and Pacific regional services ! Only 1 B737-200 (a QC freighter) still remains operational in New Zealand .... hauling overnight domestic freight and mail on behalf of New Zealand Post. The B737-200 .... was .... a lovely aircraft to fly .... and fly on ! Mark C BOG/CO

Hi Mark;
Thanks for the youtube links, however, there was a constant stopping and starting of the video which made it quite annoying to watch.
When I selected to play the video directly from the web site all worked nice and smooth. I don't really have an explanation for that behaviour???
Some great videos and the pilots make it look so easy. I've always felt it was the geatest job to have...most of the time, and the pay is not too shabby either, at least until you get up on that seniority list.

Hey Herman .... Did you catch the captains remark after engine shutdown at the end of that 3rd video ? ;D The stopping and starting you mention can sometimes be just the result of network issues ! Mark C BOG/CO

I didn't realise this preciously .... and have only just leaned upon downloading these TIN MOUSE 2 B737-200 panel files .... Contained within the "DOCUMENTS" file within the principal TNM2 B732 panel download is separate FDE data for use with Erick CANTU's B737-200 models .... meaning that this TIN MOUSE B737-200 panel is compatible with Erick CANTU's B737-200 models .... if I've goty it right ! ;D Here's a couple of pictures relating to the 2 panel options available per the 3 downloadable files for the TIN MOUSE 2 B737-200 project .... TIN MOUSE 2 B737-200 PANEL .... with standard Autopilot systemTIN MOUSE 2 B737-200 PANEL .... with Sperry Autopilot systemQuite definitely the very best B737-200 panels I've yet seen for FS .... and .... really no more complicated that any of our current B727 TYPE panels too which should be no surprise considering it's essentially by the same principal author .... none other than Richard PROBST. There are 3 files for these panels .... all of which are downloadable from FLIGHTSIM.COM .... per the following filenames .... tinmouse_ii_v1_25The above is the principal TM2 B737 files containing the panel, gauges, sound, modules, effects, 5 models, and several textures. tinmouse_ii_v1_26The above file contains a GAUGE FIX for the above file. Both of the above files must be downloaded at the very least ! tmii_sperry177_modThe above file contains an "optional" update .... which impliments the SPERRY AP System to this panel should one desire to do so and in place of the older standard default AP version. I'm still playing around with these panels .... as time permits .... and between other HJG projects .... SO .... I can't tell you much more .... other than I'm particularly pleased/impressed with what I've seen of these panels so far Mark C AKL/NZ

Hi Mark, thank you for info and tricks! I have watched the video linked at the files you have mentioned above and yes, is really impressive!!! The author, "edetroit" (search for him in youtube), seems will not share his works, however he is an artist, take a look at the other videos. Coming back to our panel, for those who loves the beauty of vintage and the shortcuts of the "modern technology", here is a nice merge with great ISG Ernie Alston payware addon (money well spent). forum.avsim.net/topic/288996-new-tinmouse-ii-v126-vasfmc-or-ernie-alston-isg-mod/Maybe is a dejavù and not so "Historic" but I hope you enjoy! Ciao!

thanks for the names, i'm going to give this a try now, will i need to download the INS that is listed to accompany it?? E: words cannot do justice to the quality of this model, though i do have one niggle, it seems the weather radar is missing switches thus not working and the port side engine gauges seem to be completely inoperable appart from EGT and oil temp which match the starboard engine, oh and for some odd reason pressing F5 does not retract the flaps (they start but then return to their position) clicking the gauge does work though.

I'd like to try and avoid getting into a potential "SUPPORT" situation here ... if we can help it.... only because, right now, this panel isn't ours and therefore can't be supported by us. HOWEVER .... general commentary is welcome .... of course .... if anyones got some experience with this/these panel/s they'd like to contribute for the benefit of everyone I've not, so far as I've briefly seen, run into any of the gauge issues you report .... other than the flap gauge issue which I did experience .... "ONLY ONCE". That issue hasn't since repeated itself. In respect of the SPERRY AP update .... I also found that the changing of data (mousing the ALT, HDG, ROC etc) to be very slow .... but then again .... I've been "winging it" without reading the manual so far too. Justoo many ther HJG projects going on around me at the moment to give this panel a serioius shake-down run .... other than the few brief circuits I've so far done around the KSEA pattern. It's a lovely panel/s though .... from what I have so far had time to see and experience. Mark C AKL/NZ

well many thanks.
it seems in the end the problem was done by doing a restart mid flight (which wasn't ideal)
it is an exceptionally fun aircraft to fly and the detail is genuinely astonishing, it seems though that some inputs (flaps and spoilers) are only doable on the panel it's self as i was unable to function them using the keyboard or my flight stick.
it could be an issue on my end but the reversers do not seem to deply properly (some times i get one, but more often than not they flutter as if trying to open)
i still stand by this being exceptional though.

I can confirm "absolutely no problem at all" with the thrust reversers .... at least not on my end .... if knowing that's of any help to you at all !

it's very odd as now it have become a very rare problem but oh well have you tried any of the other panel varients at all?? i have only tried the standard version but i might modify the TCAS one to include the digital AP and give that a whirl.

I've been using this panel for about a week now with Cantu's model. I really like the panel. I installed the Sperry mod, but then took it out. As Mark said, changing the numbers was a bit sloooowww. Also, despite following the instructions perfectly, I still had the AP disengaging on me. You can't start in cold and dark, which is confirmed in the TimMouse forum. It also sets the center fuel tank to zero, so you have to load on fuel for that tank if needed. Minor issues considering what else the panel does, and does very well. Mike

I'll likely compare notes with you later Mike .... regarding your experiences versus my own experiences .... but .... probably "after" those other projects we've been discussing recently Mark C BOG/CO

the engine starting at first did throw me, but i worked out you needed to have the battery on followed by the apu with all the bleed air valves open to start.
i would agree that it seems odd the AP's author decided to slow the numbers down, but i'm getting by using the mousewheel on my throttle.
though in comparison the original AP was just as usable, though the lack of VS and speed controls complicated things but only slightly and not enough to really warrant the changeover.

That's how those early AP's were .... or so I believe ! You need to disengage the AP ELEV TRIM paddle switch by mousing the A/AB/A rotary switch (left of the AIL TRIM paddle switch) left or right .... then set trim manually (use keyboard commands "INICIO" and "FIN" on this Spanish keyborad) .... and then, having done that an acquired the desired ROC/ROD, then reset the ELEVATOR TRIM paddle switch again in order to maintain the desires ROC/ROD. My only gripe here is that the aircrafts TRIM response appears "way too sensitive" .... but .... as Mike and I have learned from past projects, reducing the ELEVATOR TRIM LIMIT value, in the AIRCRAFT.CFG; seems to be the best way to resolve these issues .... as we've successfully done in the past.
