I'm glad to know that by apparently following my instructions (our preferred/recommended installation protocol) you've now got 7 textures B707-320C textures working with your B707-320C Aircraft Base Pack.
FYI .... all HJG B707/720 Aircraft Base Packs, textures, panels, and sounds (and indeed files for all HJG aircraft generally) install in precisely the same manner.
In response to your latest queries (and by way of a few other tricks I'll try'n explain to assist you) I'll now further elaborate .... as follows ....
All B707-320C designated aircraft textures must be installed within the HJG B707-320C Aircraft Base Pack folder only. Don't install B707-320B/ADVC textures into the B707-320C or any other B707/720 type Aircraft Base Pack. The texture mapping of most of these models is different. If you assign textures to the wrong base pack models then these likely won't display completly. It's essential that all textures be applied to the correct Aircraft Base Packs .... for the models which they are intended.
In other words ....
- B707-320 textures with the -320 base pack models !
- B707-320B (Early) textures with the -320B (Early) base pack models !
- B707-320B ADVC textures with the -320B ADVC base pack models !
- B707-420 textures with the -420 base pack models !.... etc
Moving on now ....The first bit of what I'm about to say here goes back over previously covered ground .... I realize .... but .... bear with me
You'll find ADD TO AIRCRAFT/CFG data contained within each texture download is already assigned to the correct base pack models. The only detail you must edit each time you copy & paste this data to any CFG file is that
[FLTSIM.XX] line .... remembering to edit this in strict numerical sequence whenever adding a chain of textures to the same CFG file.
If I remember correctly you were planning to install some AMERICAN AIRLINES liveries .... and possibly the AA and later B707-320C panel versions as well. Contrary to belief by lesser experienced FS enthusiasts you can have more than 1 panel folder installed inside any Aircraft Base Pack .... to display a number of different panels with the same aircraft type .... and without duplicating any of these files unnecessarily.
I'll now try'n take you through this process ! Yesterday you successfully installed the following B707-320C panel .....
B707-320B/C "Adv"
There's also another 3 panel versions applicable to B707-320C aircraft too .... as follows ....
B707-320B/C "1970"
B707-323C "AA config 1965"
B707-323C "AA config 1970"Download each of these 3. UNZIP the contents of each file to a temporary folder. Do this individually .... and as you do so manually drag & drop install each of the following Panel folders to your FSFSCONV folder ....
panel.b707-320badvc.1970
panel.b707-323c.1965
panel.b707-323c.1970You then need to make 3 copies of your current
"Panel" folder (complete with its existing PANEL.CFG file) inside your B707-320C Aircraft Base Pack. As you do this rename each new Panel folder as follows ....
panel.1
panel.2
panel.3Retain all 3 new Panel folders (again with their CFG files
"intact" .... we'll edit these in a moment) inside your B707-320C Aircraft Base Pack.
Upon successfully doing this your B707-320C Aircraft Base Pack should then contain a total of 4 panel folders .... each named as follows ....
panel
panel.1
panel.2
panel.3You must now edit (individually) the PANEL.CFG files contained inside of each of these 3 new Panel folders .... just as you did yesterday.
I recommend as follows ....
PANEL.1 .... open the CFG file for this panel folder and completely erase the existing entry. Replace it with the following data entry ....
[fltsim]
alias=FSFSConv\panel.b707-320badvc.1970.... AND THEN "SAVE" THIS EDIT .... do not make any other edits/alterations/changes whatsoever !!!!
PANEL.2 .... similarly open the CFG file for this panel folder and completely erase the existing entry. Replace it with the following data entry ....
[fltsim]
alias=FSFSConv\panel.b707-323c.1965.... AND THEN "SAVE" THIS EDIT .... do not make any other edits/alterations/changes whatsoever !!!!
PANEL.3 .... once again open the CFG file for this panel folder and completely erase the existing entry. Replace it with the following data entry ....
[fltsim]
alias=FSFSConv\panel.b707-323c.1970.... AND THEN "SAVE" THIS EDIT .... do not make any other edits/alterations/changes whatsoever !!!!
ALSO .... DO NOT EDIT/RE-EDIT THE "PANEL" CFG INSTALLED YESTERDAY !!!!Doing this establishes each of these 3 new Panel folders inside your B707-320C Aircraft Base Pack and
"ready to use/assign to your aircraft" .... sorry to appear repetitive above, but, it's probably for the better in the interests of benefiting those less experienced
For each of these new panels to display with your B707-320C aircraft you must now perform the following very simple edits to your AIRCRAFT.CFG file .... as follows ....
In the chain of several textures you've already added to your B707-320C AIRCRAFT.CFG file identify the line reading "PANEL=" for each one.
For each aircraft with which you wish to use the
"1965" panel (successfully installed yesterday) simply leave that CFG file PANEL= line reading as follows ....
Panel= .... no editing required !!!!
Based on strict order of appearance/sequence of each the above 3 additional/new panels ....
For each aircraft with which you wish to use the new "panel.b707-320badvc.1970" panel .... simply edit that CFG file PANEL= line to read as follows ....
Panel=1 For each aircraft with which you wish to use the new "panel.b707-323c.1965" panel .... simply edit that CFG file PANEL= line to read as follows ....
Panel=2 For each aircraft with which you wish to use the new "panel.b707-323c.1970" panel .... simply edit that CFG file PANEL= line to read as follows ....
Panel=3.... remembering to "SAVE" each edit as it is completed !!!!
So long as this is done correctly your B707-320C aircraft should now display 4 different panels with different aircraft/texture combinations within FS. There are configurational differences between each of these other panel versions but their operation is basically similar.
Assigning/aliasing Panel files to your FSFSCONV folder in this manner is the most convenient way of avoiding unnececsary duplication of Panel folders into different Aircraft Base Pack folders .... whilst also confining everything to one source of supply (the FSFSCONV folder) .... terefore saving HD space.
It's historically correct for the majority of B707-320C's to use the standard 1965 era panel .... i.e. yesterdays
"PANEL=" assignment !
In the interest of technical authenticity .... all AMERICAN AIRLINES (that's "-323C" suffixed aircraft designations) B707-320C's should use either the
"323.1965" or
"323,1970" panels ... the ultimate choice is yours of course. AA B707's had a unique configuration featuring just 2 turbocompressors only (as depicted on the F/E panel for these panel versions) .... whereas by far the majority of other B707-320C's featured 3 turbocompressors (again as depicted on the F/E panels of these panel versions). Realistically you can use any B707-320C panel with any of our B707-320C aircraft .... and all work equally well. At high power you may notice some engine EPR instruments will show slight variances in their indicated readings. This isn't an error/discrepency .... it "IS" actually technically correct .... depending upon the number of turbocompressors an aircraft is installed with and how these are configured to the engines driving them .... it's just a very small technical detail .... but .... perhaps 1 worth being aware of !
The "1970" panels feature a much rarer modern look about them when compared with the classic mid 60's configuration. These later vintage panels are really most appropriate for very late prodution B707-320C's of the 1970's era .... those among the last of the type built by Boeing. Remember that year dates listed beside each HJG texture represent livery/period dates only and have nothing whatsoever to do with aircraft vintage/production dates.
If anyone isn't sure what B707/720 panels to assign to which HJG B707/720 aircraft .... then refer to my "HJG B707 WHAT PANEL & WHICH PLANE ?" posting on the "ABOUT HJG AIRCRAFT" forum page ....
