Here is a picture showing that "rotating" nav light you guys were speaking of - The light itself doesn't actually rotate, there is a mirror that rotates instead. However, this system was very maintenance intensive, and the US disallowed their use as an "anti-collision light" in the 1970's because of repeated in-service failures of the devices. Only a few airplanes still have them, and as this unit was installed on 727-100 N708DH (s/n 18275), it is not in use anymore either as the airplane was retired to Kingman several years ago.

Herman, So is it supposed to be green on edge of right wing? Does anybody have photographs (not screenshots) showing colors of lights on edges of both wings of DC-8s, please? Regards, Aharon Yes its so on every airplane and every ship (long before airplanes where in use). Kind regards Walter
