The B727-200 Panel by Richard Probst, upgraded by George Carty, lacks a NAV/GPS switch. I tried installing several from other aircraft such as the Cessna 172 and B737-400 and while the switch appears, non of them actually work. Is there any solution to this problem?

The B727 panels we offer are (intentionally) "NOT" GPS NAV featured .... therefore a GPS/NAV switch is neither required nor necessary. Only conventional ADF/VOR and/or INS type navigation is available using these B727 panels/simulations as we've compiled and supply them. PLEASE NOTE: Each of the B727-100 and the B727-200 (EARLY) panels (again intentionally) do not feature INS. Only the B727-200 ADV and B727-200 ADV SUPER 27 panels are INS featured .... our intention having been to ensure period specific (1960's/70's/80's) navigation fidelity for the B727 simulations we offer. The INS NAV we provide (among the B727-200 panels fitted with this particular feature) functions "SUPERBLY". It "does" involve a learning curve, but, is "well/simply explained/supported" per Nathan's following linked written and video formatted tutorials .... INS NAVIGATION TUTORIALtonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/9801/ins-tutorialINS NAVIGATION TUTORIAL (video)tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/8957/ins-tutorialINS NAV is "far superior" to GPS NAV anyway .... and most, whom have learned to use this feature well, have never looked back/regretted their effort required in order to do so. Editing GPS NAV into these panels might be possible, but, not so straight-forward as such would also likely necessitate AP editing too. In any case HJG only supports "what's provided". If people opt to modify what's provided, then, we "don't" provide support given we "can't" (obviously) know how such modifications might implicate other panel features. Mark C AKL/NZ

Hi friends: As I am changing panels for my own use I know, that installing GPS or INS in panels designend without one is more special as it seems at first glance. First is it necessary for flights one is planning? Is it useful for the airplane one has in mind? Clearly a C 150 navigating in VFR flights is more than well equipped with a VOR. B 727 in real were later equipped with long range navigation equipment for operations overwater or in parts of the world were VORs are far away from each other. So, INS is a possibility and is available at HJG. Trying to cram the default FS 9 GPS into your preferred mount is possible, but it will not couple with the autopilot. You must do that yourself following the GPS with the heading bug. BUT: IF you have installed PT Tu-154 or PT IL 62 you can use its PT KLN90B. Because this one couples to the heading bug of nearly every FS9 AP. BUT you need to be common with the use of that Instrument and you need a software to convert FS9 .flp to KLN90 flp. Having the real KLN90B manual is also recommended as the PT KLN90B works exactly as its real counterpart. But for the type of flying of a 727-100 a GPS or INS is seldom a must, as most of the time VORs are nearby. And flying Los Angeles to Hawái in a 727-200 ADV having an INS and a prayer for no headwind would be adequate. Kind regards Walter
