"WELCOME" to this/HJG's 3rd releases release for this 2024 year.

This release's composed of 59X new and upgraded texture files and among which a selection of upgraded panel gauges/core files are also included for your "FREE" FS2004 and FSX enjoyment.

Just the following advisories and reminders to communicate in respect of content included within this latest release, but, do pay attention the content of notes #1 and #2 below.


1. 5X separate upgraded Panel Gauges/Core Files packages are being offered within this release. These are for each of the following HJG (offered) panels only ....

- B707/B720/C-135 (for all panels .... including B367-80)
- B727 (for all panels)
- CV880/CV990 (for all panels)
- DC-8 (for all panels)
- DC-10 (for all panels)

These are each upgraded/replacement gauges/core files for each of the corresponding aircraft type panels indicated. These files replace the earlier released panel/gauges core files for each of the above-listed and corresponding aircraft type panels. These files fix previous minor misfunctions or otherwise improve certain features represented within these panels. To avoid lengthy description in regard to the precise nature of these fixes/improvements (which differ between aircraft type panels) refer to the following-linked forum preview/presentation of these files ....

PLEASE NOTE: The above B707 V1.8, B727 V2.3, CV880/CV990 V2.4, and DC-10 V2.4 files are replacement Panel Gauges Core Files packages .... it "IS NOT" necessary to replace any of the corresponding and previously released/installed aircraft type panels or base packs "for these simulations only".

PLEASE NOTE ALSO: The above DC-8 V1.7 file is also a replacement Panel Gauges Core Files package .... HOWEVER .... due to late addition (to this announcement) updated "V6.3 DC-8 SHIP ONE 1958/11/12/21/21F/31/32/33/33F/41/42/43/43F" Aircraft Base Packs (containing fixed 3D models), it "IS NECESSARY" to replace all previously released/installed base packs for each of these early DC-8 simulations only. All other DC-8 Aircraft Base Packs are "NOT IMPLICATED" in this update and remain V6.l files .... these other DC-8 Aircraft Base Pack files "DO NOT" need to be replaced.

PLEASE NOTE ADDITIONALLY: THE NEW B727 PANEL GAUGES/CORE FILES PACKAGE ALSO CONTAINS ADDITIONAL ELEMENTS IN ADVANCE OF THE FUTURE RELEASE OF AN EXPANSION FOR OUR B727 SIMULATIONS (for reasons of convenience). THIS WILL AVOID NECESSITY FOR ANOTHER PANELS GAUGES/CORE FILES CHANGE IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. More concerning this particular expansion will be communicated later.

PLEASE NOTE: The "DC-8 SHIP ONE 1958 DOUGLAS AIRCRAFT COMPANY N8008D" texture is being offered as an individually downloadable texture file .... but .... a copy of this very same updated texture file has also been included inside its corresponding "DC-8 SHIP ONE 1958 AIRCRAFT BASE PACK". This reuploaded base pack remains suffixed "V6.2" since no FDE or other edits have been applied and that constitute a change in file version number. Both of these new/upgraded "SHIP ONE 1958" texture files are otherwise identical.

PLEASE NOTE ALSO": "DO NOT" confuse this SHIP ONE 1958 texture with the new "DC-8-20 SHIP TWO 1960" texture file. "SHIP TWO 1960" is a separate texture subject and uses an entirely different ("DC-8-20") aircraft base pack.

3. The single B727-200 texture included within this release is already updated with its "ADDITIONAL TEXTURES" component (D texture BMP's). The FLTSIM.XX data supporting this texture has also been edited with its correct and 3D model (MODEL=) assignment too. This's true of all B727-200 (only) textures released "SINCE OCTOBER 2015".

All B727-200 (only) textures released "PRIOR TO OCTOBER 2015" must be "manually updated" with the "ADDITIONAL TEXTURES" components. The FLTSIM.XX data supporting each of these textures also needs to be "manually edited" with the correct and 3D model (MODEL=) assignments for each texture too. The said "ADDITIONAL TEXTURES" components are supplied within each B727-200 (only) Aircraft Base Pack .... follow the stated (and very simple) installation instructions accompanying each B727-200 aircraft type/engine type base pack. The correct 3D model and aircraft type/engine type base pack assignments for each HJG offered B727-200 (only) texture are clearly stated within the following-linked forum located B727 Texture Listings" ....

These base packs contain "fixed" (June 2024 compiled) 3D models for each of the above DC-8 simulations only.

Replace all earlier released aircraft base packs for these DC-8 simulations only.

Each of the above DC-8 Aircraft Base Packs are now "V6.3" .... all V6.0, V6.1, V6.2 (and earlier) aircraft base packs "for these same particular DC-8 simulations" (only) are now "completely redundant".

PLEASE NOTE ....

- These are Aircraft Base Pack/3D Model updates/replacements only .... for each of the above-listed HJG DC-8 simulations.

- It "IS NOT" necessary to replace any of the actual Panel files for these simulations .... BUT .... the new/updated DC-8 Panels Gauges/Core Files "V1.7" (included within this June 2024 release) should be installed in order to update the Panel Gauges components for these, and all other, HJG supplied DC-8 simulations.

- No FDE updates are included among these DC-8 Aircraft Base Packs .... such is not deemed necessary at this point of time.

- It "IS NOT" necessary to replace any Sound Pack files.

-It "IS NOT" necessary to replace any Effects .... or any other supporting files either.


SO WHY THIS PARTICULAR FILE UPDATE ?

Simple: During late DEC 2022 it was discovered that wing aileron animations in the 3D models contained within each of our our DEC 9th 2022 released V6.0 DC-8 base packs were not working properly. This was fixed during JAN 2023 and new V6.1 3D models featuring fully functional wing ailerons were released. During late APR 2023 an "extremely minor" engine feature related anomaly (in fact it was "so minor" it's nothing short of a miracle this was ever discovered) was detected with our V6.1 "DC-8 SHIP ONE 1958/11/12/21/21F/31/32/33/33F/41/42/43/43F" 3D models only (no other DC-8 3D models were implicated). This was fixed during MAY 2023 and new V6.2 3D models (again for these particular simulations only) were released .... BUT IN DOING SO AND COMPLETELY UNBEKNOWNST TO US .... it seems this edit broke the wing ailerons again (for these same simulations only) and which wasn't discovered until just recently JUN 2024). Thanks entirely to the prompt motivation and efforts of Paul HAAK, this anomaly has now been "fixed" .... hence all HJG supplied "DC-8 SHIP ONE 1958/11/12/21/21F/31/32/33/33F/41/42/43/43F" 3D models/Aircraft Base Packs only are now "V6.3" files .... whilst all other HJG supplied DC-8 3D model/Aircraft Base Pack files remain "V6.1".

Download links for these new V6.3 "DC-8 SHIP ONE 1958/11/12/21/21F/31/32/33/33F/41/42/43/43F" Aircraft Base Pack files are posted within "SECTION 4" of the above June 12th 2024 New Release Files announcement .... part of which (along with its following orientation notes too) has also been recompiled in order to accommodate these late entrant files.

Refresh your internet browser (use SHIFT + F5 keyboard commands) "prior to" viewing and trying to accessing the latest offerings on each of the HJG DOWNLOADS pages.

Be aware all files offered by HJG are both FS2004 native and FSX portable .... "except where otherwise stated". PLEASE NOTE: A statement outlining precisely what is, and isn't, FSX compatible "IS" posted on our forum as follows ....

PLEASE NOTE: There's no point, or sense, in seeking technical assistance for HJG hosted files outside this forum. The only reason this's stated is due to evidence of past "incorrect advice" that's been offered on other forums monitored by HJG .... and which is obviously of concern to us given the length this group goes to "TRY TO" assist peoples enjoyment of what HJG offer. People can do what they wish "in this regard" .... of course .... BUT .... people also need to remember the knowledge base which understands, and has brought each of these simulations into existence, and is best able to provide support for these particular files, can only be found "HERE" .... at HJG.
