OK...I give up. Me of all people should be able to figure this out, but I'm stumped! I can no longer open the cargo door on my DC-8 Freighter (-50 Series). The "Shift + E + 2" doesn't seem to work. All it does is open the rear pax door and display the radio panel. ??
My *.cfg file has:
[exits] number_of_exits=2 exit.0=0.8 exit.1=0.5
Anyone got any ideas?

This same query comes up once in a while.
I've found those SHIFT .... E .... 2 commands to sometimes be a little temperamental .... in the sense that it seems to depend on the way/manner these are struck (timing) that dicates whether or not the maindeck cargo door co-operates/actually opens.
Having said that one needs to be sure one's got their textures assigned to a freight door equipped DC8-50F, 61F, 62F, 63F, 71F, 72F, or 73F model. If textures are ever inadvertently assigned to wrong model versions then this would quickly become obvious because only half the fuselage would display any texturing at all .... the fuselages of both PAX and freighter DC8's being mapped/named differently.
We do have a very small number of DC8-20F, and 30F textures too .... but .... the cargo doors on these subject "DO NOT" work for lack of a freight door equipped model to repesent them.

OK.....gong back and re-reading that thread solved the problem. Dee's explanation did it. I've got that info saved now for future use.
"While holding down the Shift key, press E, let go of both, and then press 1. While holding down the Shift key, press E, let go of both, and then press 2. The number 1 key should open the rear pax door on the JetTrader, and the number 2 key should open the main deck cargo door."
Thank you !!
That freight was getting stale in there!! ;D

Glad I didn't have to unload it then ! ;D Glad we got that resolved for you (and anyone else needing asistance there too) "SKYKING" There is definitely a "knack" associated with excecuting those keyboard commands .... in order to get that door to open Mark C AKL/NZ

Or a matter of implementing a knob or two on the panel to take care of these matters

HMMM .... not a silly idea at all .... if it can be rigged that way .... to be operated per a switch from the panel. It would certainly solve the problem of virtual freight delays due to problems unloading ! Mark C AKL/NZ

It's actually quite simple to place an icon or two and assign a small piece of code to it... but I do not have the time for it now... but later, I could offer it as a small utility ....

I guess it would make a nice add-on. And, it would be semi-prototypical in that the door is operated from the inside on those freighters anyway.

Thanks Dan, for finding that gauge file. I went and got it and installed it and it works just fine.
I use a -61 panel for my Freighter and if anyone's interested in where I put it, my coords for the gauge are: 757,525,50,80. That puts it in the lower right-hand corner of the main panel.
