Hi Tony
Sadly almost exstinct as it was a very short time ans then they re issued the kit is SAS as that sash on the box shows...still the Douglas box but overprinted. It was also issued in KLM
That kit was unique at one time as it was 50p or 58p with an extra decal sheet. They could be bought seperately for 8p each. To give a cost comparason, the Airfix Vanguard was about 35p then so it was good value for a 1/120 model which was a nice shape as was their 1/103 DC8 later reissued as 1/144.
This was before the AM decals trade we have got used to so quite a novelty
SAS, KLM, Swissair off the top of my head, about 20 in all.
I'll have a look round and see if I can find any more on this.

I've got the kit .... along with a few hundred others all "UN-MADE" and which I've collrcted since the id 1970's .... but .... it's a case of digging through mountains of boxes all neatly placed into protective storage.
I'll look .... when I can .... but .... can't guarantee supplyinmg anything quickly.

If you've got it Mark it'll be almost unique now
The chances are though it a later issues with another decal sheet inside over printed sash like now in SAS marking as the link in my post above. The kit was almost immediately re leased with airline liveries. A later issue with a new box for KLM was done in 1970.
Lots of guys over the yeras have bought one thinking it's the Douglas livery having not noticed the over print
It would be nice for Revell to re issue this as one of their musem kits with the Douglas livery.
It Is one of those models that desoite it's unpopulaar scale and old school producton methods, it really does look like a DC 9.

I definitely have the kit .... which depicts DOUGLAS (or it might even have been McDONNELL-DOUGLAS) box-lid artwork, but, as you say, quite correctly, it was repackaged, by REVELL, with early 1970's SAS livery .... and then placarded "NOW IN SAS COLOURS" .... without any change to the box artwork. A similar thing also happened in regard to the original REVELL release of the DC10 too .... which was actually a DC10-10, but, has, mistakenly been represented over the years as a DC10-30.
I can't remember if my REVELL DC9 kit is the original release with DOUGLAS decals included .... or the later SAS liveried release. I seem to recall it was around 1:120 scale .... or thereabouts whereas most of the more popular airliner kits are either 1:144, 1:100, or more recently 1:200.
"YES" .... it (the REVELL DC9 kit) is "RARE" .... regardless of whether it's in DOUGLAS or SAS livery, but, I do have "a lot" of incredibly rare kits which I've bought and squirreled away over the past 35 years or more .... including 1 particular small scale B707-320 kit, which I bought, by chance, in Tahiti during 1990, not then appreciating its value any more than they did .... to suddenly find out, upon my return home, that it, apparently, had a cataloged collectors value of some $150 back then.
I'd already learned at a much earlier stage than this though that kitsets, like any collectible item, do accrue value very quickly .... and can be a good investment provided one can find the right market later willing to pay collectable values/prices.

Hi Mark
Only the very intial few had Douglas markings, if it has the flash then it won't have the Douglas decal. The kit is 120 scale
The only time I saw the Revell DC 10 locallay was with Laker decal as a DC 10-10.
The small scale 707 sounds like kader/Lincoln International??

YEAH .... I think it was "originally" a KADER kit .... but .... maybe remarketed under another brand in Europe (would probably have to have been in order to end up in a place like Tahiti) .... though it definitely isn't a LINCOLN which I don't recollect ever having seen in my little corner of the world .... and which would, probably, have more "collectable value" than the kit version I currently possess .... as it would predate what I bought by a some considerable margin.
