Hello. I am doing some repaints of the DC-8-50, and what I would need to start are 1) an all bare metal fuselage, and 2) an all white fuselage. If anyone could provide me with these textures, please feel free to share. Thanks.

Yes of course, MD80/90's 727, Tristar, BAe 146-300 are all free to be painted as those are not HJG exclusive models. Hope that helps. If you havea request for the DC8 post it on the requests page and it may / should get picked up...hopefully

What tony means .... is "THIS" .... PSD files for the HJG DC8's are reserved for the use of HJG member painters only .... and which has been HJG policy since 2000. "IF" .... in the absence of PSD files or blank (white or natural metal) textures .... you were contemplating using currently existing texture .... then ... you'sd need to seek authorization from the particular artist/s responsible for these base and before attempting to adspt these to your needs. Most folk .... with the ability to paint #D models for FS .... have simply opted to make their own private PSD (or other) files .... as may be evidenced by some of the non-HJG released textures for HJG aircraft models available elsewhere. What Tony's also referring to in the case of PSD files for "some" of non-HJG owned but none-the-less HJG hosted aircraft models is .... "THIS" .... On the "MD80/90" and "CARAVELLE" support forum pages .... you will find links to download "Public Version" PSD files for each of these particular aircraft subjects. The reason for any perceived discrepency here is due to .... (a) HJG not owning these particular aircraft models (they are hosted with "consent" from the actual owners/authors) .... and (b) because this is the arrangement that was negotiated with these other owners/authors acocordingly. "SORRY" .... but .... that's just they way things are/have always been Mark C AKL/NZ

tngjstn, What are you wanting for the repaints? post some pics or links....will see what we can do I am requesting JA8007 "Yoshino," with the correct fuselage font. I would also need a version of N8066U optimized for FSX. As a word of feedback, some of the textures for that model did not display correctly during gameplay.

"So far as I can determine" .... the fuselage titles/"font style" associated with each of of the 1960's liveried JAL CV880's and DC8's currently offered by HJG is correct (it is quite different from the 1970's era font) .... but .... should, perhaps, be more widely spaced in terms of separation between not just the name/words "JAPAN AIR LINES", but also, more widely spaced in terms of separation between each individual character/title associated with the airline name too. That's the only (minor) discrepency I'm aware of in regard to these particular JAL liveries.
What appears to have been the problem with the N8066U (UNITED AIR LINES 1974 .... I presume) texture ?
I'm certainly not aware of any issues having previously been reported by either FS2004 or FSX users in regard to this or other HJG DC8-50 textures.
I presume you're using these textures with the correct 3D model version .... OR .... you will, even inadvertently, end up with either fuselage and/or pylon textures that don't display on these models.
Please advise !!!!
Just speculating .... in case what you're referring to might just be the "blurries" .... as follows ....
Many of the earliest textures currently offered by HJG are dated "2006" .... but .... these are, in fact, considerably older than this even, having been produced/last updated (by the original HJG group .... and then inhereted by the current group during 2006) around 2003/4 and at a time during when DXT3 format textures were common if not standard.
"IF" you can access a copy of the DXT BMP texture conversion utility .... or otherwise convert textures yourself .... then .... each of these older textures can, easily, be converted to "EXTENDED 32 BIT 888.8" format BMP's .... and with "surprisingly improved" display results. This nearly always resolves issues with any "blurries" .... should this have been the nature of the problem which you suggest.

Here's the problem: blacked out windshield and engine fans. Have you seen this problem before? Regarding JA8007, the "R" in "AIR" has a straight slab and is not curved like the existing repaint. The existing font is too tall and should be compressed vertically. Another thing worth noticing is that the striping towards the nose droops down a little, and is not in an entirely straight profile.

Tngjstn may I suggest you take the present JAL DC8 and re-work it, that way you will have a paint job done to your specific request.

Very well. As for the glitches with N8066U, what shall we do for that one?

The odd thing about this particular texture issue is .... "IF" it/what you'reporting (and I'm not suggesting that what you're reporting is erroneous or otherwise unfounded) was an "FSX specific" texture/graphics issue .... then I'd expect it to be revealed on the JAL DC8 texture also .... and more-so considering this ansd the UNITED texture were both produced by the very same HJG textyure artist.
It's just that I've never heard of any such issue (that I recall at least) ever being reported over the past more than 6 years.
Sometimes (and I'm not suggesting this actually applies in your particulkar case) such issues can be the result of certain graphics cards .... and their settings.
I only offer that advice as a "SUGGESTION" .... and for "CONSIDERATION" only .... rather than implying that's it's definitely the cause.
Can any other FSX user confirm what "TNGJSTN" is reporting .... in respect of "blacked out DC8-50 windshields and engine nacelle interiors" .... "in FSX".
"TNGJSTN" .... kindly confirm, please, which of the 2 partticular HJG DC8-50 3D models you currently have your affected DC8-50 texture/s assigned to .... would be "HELPFUL" too for starters.
