Hi, Frank here from Port Richey, Fla., love the planes on this site, I run FS9 and am mostly flying military planes, and from this site particularly the KC-135. But was looking through some of the commercial plane and really like the DC-10 and MD-11.
I downloaded the the base packs for the Lockheed L-1011-1, 1F and the 50 and under the L-1011-50 textures for ATA N185AT and ATA N186AT and into the base pack I loaded these two textures and updated the aircraft.cfg but etc. but I cant seem to get them to work. I am wondering if there is a base texture file that is missing? Any help to get these textures figured out and loaded is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Frank

Frank, Did you load the panels and gauges? One must follow HJG's install instructions to the T, or else......well sometimes frustration. Suggest you go to each aircrafts support page and READ the instructions. Good luck, and yes HJG has the greatest freeware out there. Falcon

UMMM .... you mention downloading and installing the L1011-1, -1F, and -50 base packs .... and some textures for these .... and mention they're, apparently, not working for you. I need to clarify what you're meaning here Are you saying .... Both the the L1011 models, and their textures too, "ARE NOT" appearing within the FS9 Aircraft Selection Menue .... OR .... the L1011 models "ARE" appearing OK, but, without there textures ? "IF" .... it's a case of the latter .... THEN .... 9 times out of 10 times this's the result of a minor/simple ADD TO AIRCRAFT/FLTSIM.XX error/misunderstanding .... usuially the result of forgetting to change the [FLTSIM.XX] data line to read FLTSIM.0 for the very first texture for that particular aircraft type base pack model .... and with the [FLIGHTSIM.XX] lines for any successive textures for the same aircraft base pack model then reading as follows .... [FLTSIM.1] [FLTSIM.2] [FLTSIM.3] .... etc ALSO .... Be sure you're usuing the correct textures for each aircraft base pack model .... AND ADDITIONALLY .... be sure that the ADD TO AIRCRAFT data "TEXTURE= data line reads precisely in agreement with the name of the texture folder for erach particular livery .... AND ALSO .... be sure that the valid texture folder is not still contained within its containing folder from the original texture ZIP file Any one of these 3 sdcenarios could result in "what I think" you'rte trying to communicate. If you're sure you've installed everything correctly and it's still not working .... even in accordance with this advice .... THEN .... I'd like you to copy and paste the FLTISIM.XX enttries for each texture as they appear within your AIRCRAFT.CFG folder .... just the "FLSTIM.XX" data only and not the whole darned CFG file OK Mark C AKL/NZ

Hi Mark, I am sending over for you to review the aircraft.cfg with just showing the textures added and the flight sim #'s .1, .2 etc for each texture I added and I'll be standing by to see what you think. Thanks for the help.

I think I know exactly what's going on here Upon reviewing your ADD TO AIRCRAFT/CFG data entries .... and then comparing this data with the ADD TO AIRCRASFT data contained withhin your selected aircraft texture files .... versus how it should all in fact all read .... 2 factors appear to be at play here and as follows .... 1. in a couple instance the HJG supplied ADD TO AIRCRAFT data is wrong .... but .... I'll explain how to correct this below (and then recommenmd internal changes in order to correct these errors so they can't resurface again .... once you're up'n'running) 2. You, also, may have at least 1 texture incorrectly compiled too .... possibly evidence of an attempted resolution (becaue it doesn't agree with the HJG data I've just checked) .... maybe. Allow me to explain/try to get you sorted out as follows .... Lets "START FRESH" .... for startes. Delete whatever you currently have installed .... just to avoid potential for ny confusion .... and then follow my following 4-step recovery procedure .... 1. I want you re-install the "L1011-50" aircraft base pack 2. I want you to rename each of your following 4 L1011 texture folder of choice .... - AIR LINGUS/ATA N191AT 1989 - AMERICAN TRANs AIR N186AT 2002 - HAWAIIAN HOLIDAYS N185AT 1998 - TWA N81027 1978 .... to read "precisely as follows" .... I suggest you copy & paste the following recommended texture folder names to each of your corresponding texture folder selections ..,. aer_lingus_1989_ata_385-1-50_n191at
american_trans_air_2002_385-1-50_n186at
hawaiian_holidays_1998_385-1-50_n186at
twa_1978_385-1-50_n810273. After renaming each of the above 4 texture folders I want you to install each these inside your L1011-50 aircraft base pack. 4. THIS IS THE LAST STAGE .... I want to then "copy & paste" the following FLTSIM.XX data for each of these textures (precisely as I've compiled it below .... make no adjustments whatsoever) to your L1011-50 AIRCRAFT.CFG .... and then "save this edit" .... THIS .... 4-step trecovery process will/should resolve your particular problem .... provided you follow each of these procedures I've outlined for you (without the slightest deviation). There's no way in the world that these textures should then fail to be recognised by FS and then displayed within the MSFS Aircraft Selection Menu. As I said above .... there's faults "on both sides" here .... in that some of the supporting HJG ADD TO AIRCRAFT data has, clearly, been incorrectly compiled from the start (so thanks for the HU in regard to that), and at least 1 of your configuration appears to have been incorrectly compiled on your part also. These sorts of errors are inevitable (nuts can, and does, happen) sometimes, but, are easily remedied too. See how you go Mark C AKL/NZ

Hi Mark, thank you for all your help! I've seen you've done alot of work reviewing this, I appreciate it, I changed the texture folders as you mentioned, and then also as you said I changed the actual folder that goes in the plane to what you said to change them to, added the aircraft.cfg info and started FS9 and now the four planes show up, however they are all grey, I know we are close to getting them to work.

In the engine section also I changed the engine info per the directions for the rr engines
[GeneralEngineData] //0=Piston, 1=Jet, 2=None, 3=Helo-Turbine, 4=Rocket, 5=Turboprop engine_type = 1 fuel_flow_scalar = 0.77 min_throttle_limit = -0.499927 engine.0 = 0, -35.65, -3.4, engine.1 = -76, 0, 10, engine.2 = 0, 35.65, -3.4,
as mentioned I think we are close, before i couldn't even get the plane or the textures to show. Now at least show up..........but in grey : (

OK .... any time a selected livery displays as "plain grey" model, then, that indicates something isn't right in regard to the either the texture folder name and/or the TITLE= data line description within the CFG/ADD TO AIRCRAFT entry. I auspect I know what you've done wrong here though Firstly .... the TITLE= data lines in each of your 4 FLIGHTSIM.XX sections are correct and in accordance with what I requested be done yesterday .... SO .... this, then, suggests any remaining problem can be narrowed down to "just the texture folder names/decriptions" only .... I think. When you renamed the texture folders yesterday (in accordance with my instructions) I assumed that you also knew to retain the TEXTURE. (that reads "TEXCTUR DOT") portion of each folder name prefic .... and then .... delete only the orininal data suffix (after that "DOT") .... and replace it/copy & paste my own recommended folder name suffix to each folder .... so they each then each read precisely as follows .... texture.aer_lingus_1989_ata_385-1-50_n191at
texture.american_trans_air_2002_385-1-50_n186at
texture.hawaiian_holidays_1998_385-1-50_n186at
texture.twa_1978_385-1-50_n81027Again .... note the "TEXTURE DOT" prefix before each of the actual texture folder names in so far as each airline/date/aircraft/registration description suffix is concerned. This's where I suspect you've slipped-up. When you renamed the texture folders "I assume" you must have forgotten to ensure that each texture folder name must still started with a TEXTURE. (onceagain that's "TEXTURE DOT") prefix .... sorry if was insufficiently clear in this respect Just add these prefixes .... and you should then be good to go. Just check also that the actual folder names you're editing are indeed the valid texture folders and not the containing folder from the original texture ZIP files with the actual texture folder still inside .... some people, in the past, have actually made that particular error too Let me know how you go .... and get back to me In the meantime .... I confirm that your gollowing GENERAL ENGINES DATA edit .... min_throttle_limit = -0.499927.... is correct. This edit should be applied to the GENERAL ENGINE DATA section of each L1011 CFG file .... "ONLY IF" one is intending to use the HJG supplied RR RB211 soundpack for each of the L1011 simulations. Just getting slightly ahead of you here now .... Ensure that the following panel options (only) are used with each of these L1011 simulations as, once again, each are aircraft type/engine thrust specific in respect of the engine gauge callibration and FDE interaction .... Mark, you the man, I totally missed it by not putting the "texture.(dot) while renaming the files (DOH!), the panel set up is really nice, the sound for the plane is really cool, but the plane look overall is a "10" !!!!!! Here are some pics of the plane in the various liveries. Again, thank you Mark !!!!!! Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment Deleted
