Continuing this presentation of our "new" ARJ/BAe simulations Here´s our "NEW" -300 family represented by each of the following BAe 146-300, BAe 146-300 QT, and RJ-100 aircraft versions .... BAe 146-300BAe 146-300 QTRJ-100As is the case with each of our "BRAND NEW" BAe 146-100, BAe 146-100QT, BAe 146-100/CC2, BAe 146-100/STA (MT/MSL), BAe 146-200, BAe 145-200 QT, BAe 146-200/CC3, RJ-70, and RJ-85 models .... previweed earlier within this thread .... The cargo doors on each of our "new" pure freighter/combi configured -300 SERIES aircraft models now animate/open .... to reveal a belly full of containers .... although some of our freighter aircraft configurations among this "new" ARJ/Bae family feature a belly full of palletised or small consignment cargo instead .... we´ve employed a little variation here. We´ve also finally resolved the problem with our original/currently downloadable models where both the rear fuselage air brake doors, as well as the wing spoilers too, would deploy inflight and in response to either being selected. The gear bays in each of these new models have also been redeveloped/re-textured with better/superior data .... and new details added to each model. Each of the "NEW" -300 SERIES base packs will addiyionall be accompanied by new/superior FDE. We are extremly grateful to both Jon MURCHISON, and our own very Paul HAAK, for the modifications that have resulted in these/HJG´s "new" ARJ/BAe SERIES of 2016/17 produced 3D models .... and to Mike MONCE for his invaluable FDE assistance with these simulations also. More information concerning this project may be reviewed per each of the following 2 forum threads .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/8205/200qt-rj85-finals-sabena-addedtonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/8421/all-day-night-weather-freightMark C BOG/CO

I have noticed that on pretty well all BAe 146's the air brakes are extended on the final approach. Is this a normal approach configuration for this aircraft???
I did numourous flights with this aircraft a while ago, but don't recall having to use the airbrake during approaches in order to control approach speeds.

Good morning all. Herman, in answer to your question about the "air brakes", the BAe/Avro flaps allow for very slow approach speeds. The problem is that in order to achieve these speeds, the engine N1 is way to low for the approach. As an engine often takes more or less 8 seconds to spool up from flight idle to go around speed there would be no real power in the go around for way too long. In order to have the engines running at an acceptable level, the "speed brakes" are used to create drag. If you look at the Fokker F28s, F70 and F100 you will see the same thing happening for the same reason.
A tragic example of flying at flight idle and then going around was the Air France A320-100 at Habsheim.
Have a fun day,
Nathan.

They "ARE" used in a lot of, but, not necessarily all circumstances .... according to my own observations concerning ANSETT NEW ZEALAND, and QANTAS NEW ZEALAND/TASMAN PACIFIC AIRLINES BAe 146-200/300 operation´s during the 1990´s and up to around 2001 .... and as evidenced/not evidecence in parts of the following videos .... www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_LaAkAyoz0www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-ZmwHaV--4I´ve opted to employ them in all, but one, of my recent preview images .... (a) to demonstrate they do now work (without deploying the wing spollers at the same time and which has always been an issue concerning the currently downloadable models) .... and (b) just for "dramatic effect". A factor which also needs being born-in-mind here is that the BAe 146 (and it´s RJ sisterships) were designed for both "short field" (T/O and landing) and "quiet" operations .... and were not fitted with engine thrust reversers. Instead a combination of large and very effective rear fuselage air brakes and wing flaps (for inflight deployment), and wing spoilers (for ground deployment), assisted these aircrft to go slow .... fast .... essential during approached to, and landings on, short RWY´s. Not so essential though on long RWY´s .... unless there is a desire to descelerate and pull-off any RWY quickly .... as was normally the case at AKL/NZAA. Mark C BOG/CO

Interesting. Thank you all for your replies. I would have thought that all those flaps would create sufficient drag to require lot's of power.

Nice screenshots Mark. You do know that it's cruel to 'torture' us with those 'progress-topics', right?
But this kind of torture is a nice one! I can't wait to try that new BAe/Avro Jetliner-'family' out.

Klaus, we are not far away just a matter of tying up a few loose ends then packaging it all

Don't worry Tony. I know that you wonderful guys only deliver new birds/liveries/soundpacks/etc. when they pass the HJG-quality-label.

Is the cool looking panel FSX compatible?
And will the new BAE146/RJ85 model bases have better backtracking capability than BAE146-300 model base since I am going to use First Air livery on RJ85 for narrow runways in northern Arctic Canadian airports?
Regards,
Aharon

Aharon,
Not sure what you mean by "backtracking"??
