Very nice work erik. The bac 111 did have a good production run, British airplane never made any large commercial jets in particularly large quantities like Airbus or boeing

Thanks! Back to the 727 for a moment, here's a relatively rare one. In mid-1983 VH-RMX was earmarked to join Ansett's cargo division and had the requisite titles applied to its existing "Delta" scheme. In December of that year it was converted to a freighter (the first 727-200 to be so converted), and was given the then-new Southern Cross scheme.

I used to catch up with -RMX "a lot" at AKL during the late 80's (until it's services to AKL were replaced by the TRANSCORP, and later TNT, B707-320C) .... and by which time it was already supporting ANSETT's following early 80's introduced "Shooting Stars" tail livery with revised titles over the white fuselage. Not sure, but, I think the 6 white stars configuration on the tail was intended to represent that of the Australian national flag. The mid 60's through early 70's stars configuration supported by AIR NZ represented the Southern Constellation (I think) .... and that of ANSETT NZ from the mid 80's until the mid 90's represented the 4 red stars configuration of the NZ flag albeit presented in the same style as itd Australian parent company. Here we have one of the last BAC 111s to see service; N999BW was a corporate aircraft for its entire career. From 1997 to 2013 it operated for Jet Place, a charter provider based in Dallas, Texas. It received this attractive purple, red, and gold scheme for the last half of its time with them, and was fitted with a slightly different style of hushkit from the one shown here. In 2013 it was donated to Tristar History & Preservation, and has been stored at Kansas City International Airport ever since.

My pleasure, it's a nice one for sure! I discovered a few additional Swiss DC-10s to augment the existing collection; here are the first two! By the late 1970s Swissair had revised the cheatline to end higher up on the fuselage, as opposed to under the nose on its earlier DC-10s. HB-IHE shows the new look around 1980. Balair, Swissair's charter subsidiary, acquired its first and only DC-10 in 1979. It received the contemporary scheme of the time as well, albeit with a white no. 2 engine and the requisite titles.

Those are my sorts of airplanes .... my favorite wide-body in fact. I did "A LOT" of happy hops on DC-10's .... both in the PAX cabin as well as in the jump seat too. Dem woz da daize Mark C AKL/NZ

Thanks for those, Mark! As far as I know, this is the last of the Swissair DC-10s; this is HB-IHP circa 1990. Formerly LN-RKA of SAS, it was acquired to temporarily bridge the gap until the first MD-11 was delivered in March 1991, and given that, had this simplified livery applied on a white base. After it was withdrawn, it was sold to Northwest (along with most of the other DC-10s in the fleet) as N211NW, flying with them until January 2005.

"White lower hull" .... as opposed to the standard/traditional grey painted lower hull (for this livery era) is what Erik's referring to here Just out of my own curiosity Erik .... Was that one (-IHP) upgraded to "ER" status (per the tail section imposed weight bump/upgrade) ? Mark C AKL/NZ

Was that one (-IHP) upgraded to "ER" status (per the tail section imposed weight bump/upgrade) ? As far as I can tell, only HB-IHL/M/N/O were upgraded to 30ERs; since IHP was such a short-term lease, it probably wasn't needed. Complementing Peter's Continental/Alitalia DC-10, N14062 was given a split livery with VASP in the summer of 1998 to commemorate their newly-formed codeshare. This lasted until 2000, and 062 was subsequently repainted with the full livery for its last year in service.

Very nice! Is erik using his own base textures or using the standard dmfs paintkit?
